997.2 Turbo S exhaust

Hi, just after a bit of advice. I am thinking of upgrading the exhaust on my 997.2 turbo s. What do you guys recommend? A few have said Europipe is good or Akrapovic?
Also will putting an aftermark exhaust on it effect it’s residual value?

Sharkwerks xpipe via DWPerformance in Wellingborough or via Sharkwerks direct from USA if you are too far from Welly to make it work. Check out my recent review in Total911.

The factory uses Akropovic titanium systems for its GT cars.
It's a significant investment, but makes sense on high value models like yours.
It is unlikely to adversely affect residual value significantly - may even enhance it. [;)]

Alternatively, retain the original system to refit it when you come to sell. Your after-market replacement will still have reasonably value.
Whatever you decide, please keep us posted. [:)]
Regards,

Clive

With a bit of experimenting i find playing both at the same time in different windows of your browser does a nice job of overlaying the sound so you get a direct comparison.

It has transformed the car from one which creeps past people in town without them turning to see what they have (not) heard to a car which creeps up on people as they turn to see what they have heard coming. There is no drone at any level. Just lovely NA sound.

Hi,

I've just had the Sharkwerks X-pipe installed on my 997.2 turbo and I'm delighted with it. It's very similar in sound to the PSE I used to have on my 997 C4S. I was put off by the price of the Europipe and Akropovic systems (the Sharkwerk's was £1500 fitted by the wonderful DW Performance - speak to Kev). There's zero drone at motorway speeds and it provides a wonderful NA-type deep burble at lower revs, with the classic flat six howl higher up the revs. I'm extremely pleased with the results.

Regarding resale value, I'm hanging onto my original system and will offer that to any future buyer should they want an original spec car. I think you should be fine with just an exhaust system. However, once you start going down a remap route you may then start getting a few raised eyebrows and people walking away. As far as I know, remaps will always show on the computer system, even if they're reversed prior to sale (I'll be interested to know if I'm wrong on this).

Simon

PS. Where are you based? I'd be happy to let you hear the sound of my Sharkwerks if you're close to London.

That's my turbo in the 'before' YouTube video. I'm pleased to say it now sounds like the 'after' footage. Cheers for posting that, Joe :)

That's a decent offer Simon! :) As it happened... in the YouTube video links above (my earlier post) you can hear Simon's car BEFORE his Sharkafication. It was one saturday in late september when Simon and I met so that he could hear mine in person. We video'd his and mine and the youtube videos are the result. Oh, and Simon went off and got one too. :)

I had better start hiding money from the wife...

I made the excuse that there was an issue with my current exhaust. My wife's not that interested in the car (shocking, I know) so she hasn't heard the new pipes yet, thank goodness!

My mods get published to the world so there's no hiding them :). But I think the only time the lovEly Mrs C picks up Total911 is to straighten the pile ??

If my pile of mags gets too high it gets trimmed....

I have to move my pile to the garage....in the process I always find something I want to re-read which then ends up with me in the dog house

Is this Heyward and Scott a improvement over stock, performance and sound, looks good value
