Steering Lock 911SC

The steering lock on our car does not reliably lock the steering column unless steering is jiggled about some times to next locking position (say 180 deg). The key operation and electrical functionality is normal. Seems like maybe a spring loaded plunger or bolt may be sticky. Does anyone know about how to identify issue, where to lubricate etc.?

Thank you for any replies.

I recently had to replace the electrical switch part of the steering lock, which meant taking everything to bits. There is a diecast assembly between the ignition switch and the steering column, inside which is the plunger which slots into the hole in the column to lock it.
The bezel (black round disc) in front of the ignition switch unscrews, if you loosen this you might find you can jiggle the assembly and re-align the plunger to work better, before re-tightening it. I didn't notice any lubricant around the parts, so not sure what to recommend.
Hope this helps.
