Targa roof mechanism

Hi All,

Really need some help here with my Targa top restoration (1970 911).

There are two latch assemblies on the Targa roof which are independent, but each latch has two fingers that engage with the catch, and ONE of these two fingers is manually disengaged by turning the handle (The one on the right). Is the one on the left supposed to move or is it just spring loaded?

On both of my latch assemblies the left catch does not move. But when I try and release the roof I can't get it off because the left side is still hooked in.

Sorry, I have no other car to reference it with.

Replies appreciated.

With my targa top I relase each side 1 click and the roof moves up I then move the lever a bit more on one side pushing the roof up at the same time this releases the second catch then do the other side it then moves forward to release the rear pins. Hope this helps Regards Bern.

Thanks for the info Bern, looks like I have two faulty roof catches.. Better dig deep into my Pocket !

Best,

Mark
