Original Porsche 17" cup 1 wheels required for 968 Coupe

Hi
I am trying to source a set of 4 Original Porsche Cup 1 wheels for my 1992 968 Coupe.
Preferred sized 2 x 17"x 7.5" & 2 x 17" x 9"
Any assistance that can be provided would be appreciated

Standard rims on a 92 coupe would have been 16" cup 1's, with 17's (also cup 1's) as optionals. 17" cups are expensive - expect a 4 figure price IF you manage to find any, in 17" I see cup 2's but can't remember seeing cup 1's.

Beware any that do not have the correct ET (65 front, 55 rear) and replicas that do not have the rim profile and ET stamped either side of the valve.

Hi, my '92 968 is due for an engine rebuild after 307,000 kms , yes! kms in NZ. I am keen to send the motor back here to the UK as I return to NZ next month. Any recommendations?

For a 968 I'd suggest you register and ask on the forum of porsche968uk. A number of owners on there have done or had engine rebuilds, and you'll get lots of help and advice. Unfortunately the 968 section on here is rather quiet - and I speak as a long time 968 owner and PCGB member!

Hi Guys, thanks for your help and I will log on the 968uk link as well as EMC Motorsport. In NZ recently there was a Reconditioned 968 motor for sale which I hadn't given much thought to until I arrived in the UK . On talking to someone at Hedingham Castle they implied that i should get my original motor reconditioned to keep the matching no.s? Now , i only thought that would apply to early cars like the 356? What do you think?

I guess its where it will head in the end possibly not in my life time!

but as the 968 is a limited run car, and numbers are already dwindling I would suggest its not a bad idea to keep all the numbers matching, if it has an effect in 20 years time your going to be really miffed if it makes 50K difference in the value of your car...

but on the other hand I doubt it very much, as in all these things its your risk to evaluate and take or leave

I can't seem to log in to porsche968uk. Well , once, I logged in but couldn't get any further? Wonder if it is because all my details are in New Zealand. I am in UK,at the moment.

should not make any difference as to your location,

I log into it from all over the place, what is your user name and i will get stu to unlock your account

Thanks for your help and I think my user name was Tony Maddocks ?? When you are a member of PCGB ,PCNZ, 356 registry and early 911S and have 3 different Porsche models you tend to forget the logins? and I don't mean to be smart!

You could try a PM to Mr 968 on here - that's Stu, the owner of the porsche968uk forum. However, PCGB and he have communication problems so a PM might not get through.

HI Guys agree EMC are recommended for a 968 engine rebuild plus would suggest Ninex at Maidenhead in Berkshire are good as well. Had a few enquiries people wanting to shoe horn a 968 into a 924 and prepared to pay £3 k plus for a complete engine. Think Tony Maddocks should get his original rebuilt. Ken Coad 968 PCGB reg sec

Hi Guys, thank you for all your feed back! I have heard back from Alex at EMC asking if maybe I just want a refresh! I'm no mechanic so not sure what that entails? I'm not sure whether I mentioned there was one only recon motor for sale in NZ for $6000. The reason i started to enquire was when I saw on the forum that a recon might cost up to £2000. Well! Thats only $3800 NZ. The mention of £7500 for an engine, you can buy a complete car in NZ for that!. Which brings me to the next point of my considering importing the odd 968 back into Britain. However, they would only be in Tiptronic mode as Manual's are also rare.
