Windscreen creak + Teflon tape

Hi all

My baby is currently in the paintshop for a complete respray. The windscreen goes in soon but the chaps are finding it hard locating the Teflon tape needed (apparently) to stop the windscreen creaking.

Does anyone know where I could get some? Or a suitable alternative?

Many thanks

Hello
A good bit of work there..

There shouldn't be any tape in there I'm afraid if you want it doing properly try getting in touch with Paul at Glasstec. http://www.glasstecauto.co.uk/

If he is not local to you he may well know someone who is that he recommends (And knows his tips for fitting these)

regards

Barry

Thanks Barry

My glass chap was a bit concerned about the Bostic solution I read about elsewhere - bunging-up the drainage holes, apparently.

I found the attached file on Rennlist - it's TSB 6420.

I'll get my chap to call your chap and see what's what.

you only need it if its not clamped in at time of fitting
mine wasnt in 2006 so then opc mid sussex did the tape nearly 90.00 then.
it has only just restated creaking the last few months
so gotta take a re look at it again !!

Teflon tape is not always required, especially if fitting new rubbers.

3M do a clear PE tape last time i used it i had to cut in half as to wide, was about £50 for 10m

Fitting a 993 windscreen does not involve clamping. There's no need for such an extreme measure.
