whats the average mileage before you get the Adblue warning light? I have just gone over 10,200 miles and wondered if it was about right?

Probably will need topping up quite soon. You get a warning with around 1400 miles to go and the car stops at around 600 miles and can't be restarted.
You can buy 10 litres of Adblue on the forecourt for around £14, it's £9 at motor factors and will cost £40+ at your Porsche centre. Tank capacity is approx. 23 litres.

Urea and deionised water. Injected into the exhaust gas of diesels to reduce NOx emissions. Apparently it's not pig wee which is the usual urban myth.

Urea is of course Bird poo. Thanks for the replies. Just bought 20 litres from a VW dealer for £23. Thought I might have got 20K miles between fills to fit in with the service schedule but I guess a fill in between is no real hassle.

Last week my light came on, while in the south of France. Went to the local Porsche Dealer (having left the bottles I'd previously bought at home) and the cost to do the refill was a very impressive 23 euros, in total. Thats hard to beat. Would not have been able to get home to the UK without a fill.

Apparently it is very corrosive and can damage paintwork very quickly, so should be handled carefully.

That's a myth.
It is a non-hazardous clear liquid that simply crystallises when it dries.
However, it is best to wipe off any spillages.

Clive
