986 interior lights not working

Any ideas? My glove, cabin and luggage compartment lights are all not working and they have been previously! The lights on the door cards still do. Checked fuses and can only see one relating to interior lights and that is good (C3).
Slightly confused to say the least?

I've come across a couple of cases of this, whereby the car has slipped into transit mode. Running the Sports Car Handover Routine with a PST2 or PIWIS tester wakes up the system. More common on 987's after a battery change, but I have experienced 2 cases on 986's personally.

Thanks Richard. Have read about this on a couple of forums. Hadn't used the car for awhile so maybe it really went to sleep despite being on a trickle charge. Currently charging round the Alps in it so will get it looked at on return!

Check your number plate lights. They run off the same fuse. If they are also out I'd check the fuse.
Found this out when I accidentally blew the fuse on my 986 :D

I think you might be confusing it with the instrument cluster backlighting, which is on the same fuse as the rear number plate light. The interior lights are connected directly to the alarm control unit, and use the fuse for that.

Erratum

Richard is always correct when it comes to knowing Porsches inside out, their faults and how to repair them.

He's sometimes known to be right on other issues too but you'd need to ask his wife about that.

Where can I find this "alarm control unit" fuse. I have this same issues when fidgeting with my door light, the positive wire touched the negative wire. Now my interior lights are out, my windows will not roll down, and my door lights with not turn on. I check every fuse inside the fuse box and all were perfectly fine to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. I've noticed my alarm no longer works also. So I know Richard Hamilton is correct on this being the issue because all of this happened at the same time.

The alarm control unit is under the passenger seat (RHD cars). As well as the fuse in the driver's footwell fuse box (fuse C3), there is a small blade fuse on the alarm control unit itself. It is located between the two cable plugs. Check that too.
