LATE SUMMER DRIVE

I have been asked by the Porsche Centre in Reading to Avoid September so with all the planning complete I am announcing the 26th August as the date for the outing. More details on the regional web page, where you will be able to register your interest. It is important to do so because at the end of the approximately 65 mile drive there will be Bacon baps available at the Centre for those of you who wish to partake.

Might be worth bearing in mind its Reading Festival that weekend so traffic in and around Reading itself might be quite busy.

Thanks for organising John. It's a shame as I'm displaying my car at the Wings & Wheels event on that day......plus racing it up and down the Top Gear track :)

Let me know if the date changes as I'd be keen to tag along.

Thanks

Kevin

Actually I have taken on board that it bank holiday weekend and changed the date and time slightly. I have proposed the 12th August depart the Novello at 07:30 as we need to be at Porsche Centre Reading by 10:00-10:30

Hi everyone we have a tight schedule; we need to be at the Reading centre by 10:00 to be fair to the centre's staff. The date is confirmed as 12th Aug, depart Novello absolutely 07:30 sharp. We will not wait for stragglers as is our usual practise. The best of the roads is available early on before they get too much traffic. They are not busy roads by any means but you never know. We will be alright if we start sharp. There is a surprise awaiting us half way round and I have built in some time so we can have a quick slurp of tea and water the horses, and trust me you will want to linger.
If you do run late on the day, say by up to 5minutes minutes, you can either play catch up at your own risk, head for SL6 2JL and wait for us or cut to the tea rooms if you are really, really, astronomically late. There are not really any good places to stop a bunch of cars and wait en route. I have Tulip Rally directions, the odometer readings and the post codes are all included in a PowerPoint file which is small by PowerPoint standards and emails quickly. If you are coming, email me including number of passengers and I will send the directions out to you. Don't worry if I do not reply immediately it's less time consuming if I do one bulk email on the 3rd and tie up any loose ends later. The absolute latest date for reply is 4th August as I need to let my Porsche Centre Liaison, Samantha, know how many rashers of bacon to buy.

Hi John,

I'm down to come and will see you at the Novello at 7.30am sharp.

It will be me +1.

Thanks for organising...I'll also drop you an email too :)

Cheers

Kevin

Guys I need one central point to look for names and numbers so if you are coming please help me out with a confirmation e-mail. I don't want to beat you up but 75 have viewed and I have only a handful of replies. This really is a good drive and you wont be disappointed. Another member came around the route with me helping to record mileage and he reckoned it, especially the special surprise that awaits you at the tea rooms where we will stop to regroup and have a quick slurp. I would post videos but there is a snafu with my you tube a/c and FaceBook just plain locks up.

You will soon read in Porsche Post that the times are different too the ones Posted in this forum. At the time of going to press those times were accurate, based on past experience with the centre but the timings in the magazine have had to be altered to meet the request from the centre to have everybody there by 10:00 to 10:30 at the latest

Hi John , thanks for organising today's drive , really enjoyed the drive and the hospitality at Porsche Reading. Good turnout , some really nice cars.

Cheers. Ian

Hi Guys. If you want to relive the magic of the day there are some images in our "Late Summer Run" gallery on our regional page
