Replacement Exhaust C4S

Has anyone replaced the system on their vehicle with the new original porsche exhaust or aftermarket unit. What is the likely cost? Are the original units made of stainless steel?
My system had a split in it, which has been repaired by my OPC for now, but it probably won't last forever!

Just had my 2003MY 996 C4 cabriolet factory fit switchable sports exhaust replaced with a Dansk switchable. Supplied & fitted by Wrightune in Wallingford, Oxfordshire for £1840 including all clamps, hardware & VAT. Works and sounds great. Actually better than great; bloody wonderful!

I have Dansk 300S on mine, about £870 fitted
OPC quoted £950 each.....
Lovely sound & feels a little more responsive but they haven't got 12 years of carbon build up in them.....

Kasspa,
I'd love to know where you got a Dansk for £870 please? My C4S needs the side silencers (might be called headers) for its MOT in July, I've been quoted double that price for supply and fit.
Thank you!

Hi Peter,

Tech9 price the 300.S at £686.00 part no. 1620601010, you will need fitting kit also.
Mine were supplied & fitted by Dove House in Rushden last Autumn.
Don't know where you're based but worth a call.....

I have been quoted about 4 hours to install both sides, which is about the same cost as the parts.
Does that sound correct?

I paid for 3 hours labour.....

type911 prices exclude VAT & delivery so works out pretty much the same!

what you paying for labour Peter?
PM me

Save yourself the cost of a specialist and do it yourself!

I swapped out mine myself, took maybe 3 hours but I'm no professional. Have had them off a few times now, to carry out mods etc and can probably do it in half that time now.

No special tools required, just a socket set, spanners and a screw driver. You don't even need to jack the car up. You need to remove the rear bumper which is simple enough and top tip take the rear lights out first or your likely to damage them taking the bumper off. And don't forget to order new clamps As the old ones will most likely be heavily corroded.

The tailpipe trims can be a tad troublesome to realign but patience pays off.

Morning guys
im a new member to PCGB. Just bought a 996 (2003) C4S and keen on upgrading to the PSE as my back boxes are starting to split. It’s a blessing in disguise as it’s an excuse to justify spending on a new exhaust system.
My local specialist (tower Porsche, london, SE1) is recommending the dansk system (not the super loud one) but is there any others I can consider? Cost is not an issue as I want to do it properly. Been quoted 2-4 hours labour and £750 for the system with all clamps etc.

Any suggestions on would be useful

past: 997 (gen 1)

Hi,
RPM had replaced the original PSE on mine, with Miltek. In their opinion, the sound was better and the boxes were much more durable and longer lasting than replacing with a like for like PSE. Only thing is, it's not switchblade, but doesn't bother me in the slightest :)

Help!

My car is being serviced by an Indy at the moment and we cannot seem to find the source of the rattle that comes on under hard acceleration from 3k RPM. Belt has come off, pulleys checked (Water pump replaced as there was some play, bit noise still there).

Now checking the exhaust, it is a higher pitched rattle that he thought would not be the exhaust.

Running Dansk boxes and we are now swapping to a set of spare boxes to see if it is that, if not will be going back to the cats etc. My dear is that it is something back at the manifold end.

Anyone have any experience of this, what it might be? How much for a whole new system?

Bored by this problem and worried about the cost!

I have recently replaced the original silencer on my 2003 c2 with Dansk sports silencers.
Very pleased, not overly loud , loads cheaper than oem.
I paid 570 for the silencers and 200 to have them fitted including new clamps and sleeves. Very happy with the result.

I swapped my original Silencers for Dansk Sports silencers and had to change them back after 6 months as an internal weld failed which led to an annoying rattle.

utter junk now have Designtek silencers much better.

So...... turns out it was an internal problem with the Dansk boxes (I hear this all of the time) and we chucked them away. Manifold etc was all fine.

So I then had to decide what boxes to buy, ship to the Indy and then fit. After an hour of scouring everyone online I went for the Milltek Cup boxes which I got at a great price from Roadrunner (Milltek Dealer).

I went back to pick up the car today and when I got there one of the mechanics said (as I went to open my car door). "That is the best sound I have heard from a 996. Ever"

Drove it home and I just say, I agree. Not boomy or droney, nice and throaty when you want it to be and sensible when you don't. Coming up to 7k RPM it feels and sounds like a race car.

Thanks to Martin, Harry and Oli at Portiacraft for sorting. Problem sorted, car is perfect. and I have a British made exhaust with a Lifetime Warranty! Keeping that receipt in a safe.

This week I've just replaced both rear silencers on my C4S with Milltek sport units.
Lifetime warranty and Stainless steel cost £780 from my local supplier , Sounds great and with a deep burble .
