hi All

i have booked the precision course at PSE this Thursday and was intending to use my own 991 GTS for the day. Unfortunately my insurer (Adrian flux) will not provide cover for the day at any cost, which is disappointing when you consider it's not a track day (no timed laps etc) and improves your understanding of the cars dynamics but there you go. I've spent some time ringing specialist providers with no luck given the value.

i am now considering hiring a GTS for the day at £890 and that way I don't need to worry about wear and tear (or insurance) and can focus on enjoying what members seem to think is a pretty great day.

any views on insurers and options appreciated

Gareth

Personally, I wouldn't get too worked up over safeguarding yourself for every eventuality. You'll be driving in a controlled environment accompanied by a trained instructor, so don't get too stressed out - just enjoy the experience.

In the unlikely event you whack it, get it out onto the road and whack it again - for the insurance claim (only joking of course!) [8|]

Clive

I have attended the course on two different occasions (once in my 997 Gen 2 GT3 and then again in my 991 Gen 1 GTS) and I never bothered with track insurance on either occasion purely for the fact that I forgot that I should have considered it first time around and then second time because I felt so safe first time, the days are so well organised I didn't need to bother. Yes you drive the car hard but the instructors are so good and really know what they are doing - your call but I wouldn't bother with the insurance personally and just enjoy your day in your car - it's a cracking experience.

Echoing above: Just enjoy the day as you are in a safe environment. Afterwards, consider changing your current insurer as they cannot seem to understand the difference between a track day and a training environment.

I've taken my 997 GTS to the PEC twice on 997 register days....didn't have track insurance either time having read up on what the PEC was like and never ever felt like I needed it. Standard of driving is very good because everyone on track has an instructor and every instructor has a radio so if god forbid there's an "incident" all instructors know very, very quickly what's happening. The tracks are really designed as handling tracks so your're not going super fast though it will feel faster obviously...there's nowhere where you'll need anything higher than third gear.

As the others havd said-the track is more like a twisty b road and you will only drive with what you are comfortable with.So start slowley and build your confidence, after a few laps you will be hitting the apex.
