DW Performance in Bedford - review

Hi Jonathan,

I think that this is a relatively new company, so it doesn't have much of a track record, and is up against some established Porsche Indies in this area such as Auto 2000 in Kempston and Dove House Motors in Rushden.

They're only a few miles from me so I'll try to pop in there when I get a chance and report back. Unfortunately they're not open at weekends so it may be a while.

Jeff

They advertised on the village Facebook page as owners live here.

Might give them a try as they offer free collection & return.

Got a slight coolant weep from the large diameter pipe on the offside.

Also want braided brake hoses fitted.

This is a very new company, just started by an ex-Porsche trained mechanic, I believe.I don’t have an further info - if you give them a go, please post any reasonable feedback [;)]

Right, I'll try to be brief....

Excellent company run by the former workshop manager at OPC Silverstone.

Asked him to replace the flexible brake hoses with braided ones and fix a coolant leak from the front crossover pipes.

Turned into a nightmare for him - brake fittings on solid brake pipes were corroded so three of the small fixed pipes from flexi hose to caliper had to be replaced. Crossover pipe the large coolant pipes connect to had corroded the pipes in, so the crossover pipe and hoses had to be replaced - who on earth puts a steel collar on hose that goes into a aluminium fitting!

Also, all of the inner bleed valves on brake calipers seized - two of which snapped off and had to be drillied out - he thought they had not been undone for a long time!

Wouldn't hestitate to recommend him, free courtesy car and a 10% discount for PCGB members.

He is also holding an open day at his workshop in Bedford on June the 10th, 9am 'till 2pm

I was recommended to visit Kev Waterhouse, who is now in new premises in Wellingborough, at www.dwperformance.co.uk after buying my first Porsche Cayman and being frightened by the scare stories I read online . He gave my car a thorough inspection and highlighted a few issues which require doing and really put my mind at rest. I have my car booked in with him for next week and was completely impressed with his honesty and enthusiasm for the Porsche marque. He has a very good customer base and owners travel from various parts of the country to have him work on their cars, I would thoroughly recommend him. He is also holding another cars and coffee open morning on the 24th March 2018 at 09:00.

Kev Waterhouse is quickly building a first-rate reputation at www.dwperformance.co.uk. He fitted my SharkWerks X-Pipe (see Total 911 Magazine issue 159) and he will be servicing my car in 10 days' time. He appears to be honest, hard-working, and proud of his reputation which means that he knows just one bad review will render all of the hard work for nothing. He therefore goes the extra mile to guarantee complete satisfaction on every job. I know he is also a PCGB member but I dont know if he reads this forum.

agree with above, Kev has done quite a few jobs on my car since I've owned it.

They will be doing all future work on the car from now.

It does help that he lives in the same vilage as me so can collect & return the car to me[:)]

Visited Kev Waterhouse @dwperformanceltd today for my Major Service at 8-years old. I took along my own @MillersOilsLtd fluids for engine and PDK and I made fine use of the private (heated) office space to get some stuff done. Outcome: new fluids, new plugs, new coil packs (largely precautionary after one showed signs of ageing), etc. Best bit? Some warrantable items were spotted and reported to Porsche on my behalf and I am awaiting a call to book a slot for repair. Whoever thought an Indy was second best? Not me and not with this Indy. Thx Kev. You work hard for the successful reputation your are building.

Kev has just carried out a clutch change, repaired a small gearbox leak, fitted some new coolant pipes as mine were starting to leak and show signs of corrosion, changed my brake fluid, and fitted new coil packs for me as all of mine were starting to crack, he also arranged an MOT for me which had a couple of small advisories which he sorted out free of charge. I would highly recommend DW Performance to anyone who wants an honest and trustworthy indy, Kev Waterhouse is passionate about anything Porsche.
