Hi all

Well I took the plunge and bought myself a Panamera GTS. I have to say after having a 997 and more recently a Macan, I have to say this is the most impressive Porsche I've owned.
I'm really happy with it and more so convinced to stick to buying GTS derivatives of each model from now on. The level of spec is really good.

The only disappointing aspect of owning the Pan is how quiet this forum is. It's a pity because the PCGB is a great club. Maybe we should arrange some model specific meet ups?

Well Harry you're a lucky guy with the new Panny. I have a 2012 model Turbo S (550PS) and its a great car. All the bitchy things said in the motoring press are put to bed once you see and own a Panny. I've always enjoyed the design and the sheer practicality of a Porsche that can break 200MPH wih four people on board. I shall never actually experience that but it's a nice feeling to own a car that has that kind of performance. It's the only Porsche that I have owned and will be the only Porsche I ever own and I love it ! The Panny forum is quiet because not a lot goes wrong with the Panny...also the Porsche 911 members tend to look down their noses at us. The same is true for the Cayenne and Macan owners...we just aren't purists so we tend to be neglected! Don't worry about it. Enjoy your Panny (and you will) and let them get on with their purist ideals!! Good luck Harry....

Thanks for the feedback. I don't fit the stereotype either after having owned both a 911 and a Macan.

I've got the Precision day booked at Silverstone where I'm hoping to get some good instruction on handling the GTS, it is a very different beast to a 911.

I'm going to test the reception I get when I visit my Regions open day. I'll let you know how I get on.

I've ordered the e-Hybrid, arriving May. Will be very sad to see my 991 mk1 go as it truly is the best all-rounder. But with a 7 month old, it only gets used about once a week when I am alone and for the daily 2 miles to the station - hardly doing her justice.

Drove the 4S Panamera Petrol at Silverstone, Diesel at Mayfair and then the Turbo. The 4S is an incredible machine (I think more "Porsche" than the Turbo). I just hope the heavy hybrid is not too bad...and will at least enjoy no congestion charge, parking etc. Fingers crossed!

I've also been eyeing up the e-hybrid and it looks great. It's definitely the best hybrid technology that Porsche have produced in the Pan.

I went to the launch of the new Pan at Silverstone last year and all the guests were talking about the e-hybrid.

I had a 997 S2 and I can say that the Panamera is a totally different drive. My first days driving it felt very strange, to start with it felt very big but really powerful. It took a lot of concentration to keep to the speed limit especially on the motorway. It was only when I took for a few drives on the country roads around Nortampton and the experience was fantastic. It felt just like the 911 with more feel from the front end. It lost the sensation of it being a big heavy car.

Its also a very comfortable car with enough toys to keep me interested.

I hope our enjoy it as much as I am at the moment.

Good to hear that it might not be a total write-off on the B Roads! Currently planning a trip to the Italian Lakes this summer, so fingers crossed it is fun to drive.

Sports Exhaust is having to be added as a retro-fit so will have to suffer with a quiet car for who knows how long. Mind you, coming from a 991 anything will be quieter (which is not always a bad thing!).

I drove the turbo at a Porsche sponsored track day at Silverstone two years ago-actually we took it out onto the roads.

In terms of delivering the label on the tin it was the Porsche that impressed me most.

The proposition is basically we will shift 4 heavy people (maybe even Germans) in club class arm chairs in a way that makes each of them feel they are in a 911. It did that for me. Awesome car.

(As I prefer to shift one person and the occasional guest who can put up with my driving you will see I have chosen a different car from the stable-but still whenever I see a Panamera I mentally doff my cap- and race it, obviously (within agreed legal limits))

I have to agree with you Alan. I have always loved the Panamera since the day it was launched and if funds allowed I would buy new one tomorrow. Maybe a second hand one might be the answer.......?

The diesel ones I have borrowed from PC Bolton, courtesy of Steve Webb dealer Principal, have been truly astonishing, not just in comfort but power and economy too.

As I get older maybe this is the way to go?? Mmmm.........

Diesel Panamera was insanely quick but the tied has turned against diesel so I think it would not be a good move. Nanny crashed my X6 this weekend and am reminded that the 911 is really not a practical family car, even if it is perfect for weekends away as a childless couple!

Can anyone recommend where is best to sell the 911? 991 mk1 C2S with 7500 on the clock.

Should get an estimated delivery date for the eyhbrid today...exciting!

I recently took part in a drive-out day with PC Bournemouth. In addition to a Boxster 718S (brilliant) and a Cayman 718S (disappointing - why so different to the Boxster?) I drove a diesel Panamera. For a car of that size and weight to accelerate like it did was nothing short of shocking but to do so while being capable of carrying four people in unashamed luxury (despite sounding like a NASCAR race car) is just incredible.

I loved it, but please don't tell anyone, then I can still look down my nose at it because I drive a 911 (and a Boxster, but don't tell anyone that either or I'll have to hang my head in shame...)

Please welcome a new member to the Club! I am the proud owner a 2011 Panamera 4S, having previously had a 993 Carrera 4 and 996 GT2 complete with ceramics and scaffolding. The Panamera is closer in feel to the the 993 than I expected and I am loving every minute of it, despite the glitches. The PCM unit has decided to pack up and Ive just been quoted £1700 to fix it! Anybody had any experience with a PCM on the blink?

Congratulations on your Pan 4S purchase. I hope you enjoy driving it.

I've never had a PCM failure so I'm not sure what to suggest. Depending on what has failed I suppose you could try getting a replacement unit from ebay. If you don't have warranty the OPC will sell you one at the cost of a couple of limbs. I once had a quote of £4,000 for adding DAB to my unit!

Also depending on what has failed you can also contact Cartronic in Woking to see if they can help.

Glad to see Cartronics getting a mention as they are ones Ive entrusted to fix the problem. Pick up the re-conditioned and re-programmed unit in 10days. They say they are seeing more PCM units as time goes by, not common , but not unheard of. Happily they have not had any come back after the fix.

4S driving like a dream. Reconditioned PCM installed, no problems so far. Thanks Cartronics. New Pirellis on all four corners, no more crabbing from parking space. Adapting to PDK, have to admit it, she shifts faster than I can. Speed Awareness course scheduled for July, instead of more points. Thanks Thames Valley Police. I love this car, so does my Labrador. He couldnt stand the GT2.

On second Pan Turbo, secondhand, 2015 model reg Oct 2014. Brilliant and the extra 20bhp on the old Pan 500 bhp is very noticeable. Turbo model always feels like 911!
