Hi all,
For those who have been following my trials and tribulations of selling my house and moving to OZ its finally happening at last, I move out on the 21st Dec with a flight booked for the 31st Dec thus starting my new life on the first day of a new year. The 996C4S will be on its way there before me leaving the UK on the 11th Dec and the hope is it will arrive by mid Feb so hopefully if it passes muster will be back on the road again by mid to late March but with Western Australia number plates. I will still remain a member of the PCGB but now overseas and will become a member of the WA Porsche club when I get there. I can only thank everybody in the club that I have met over the years for the most enjoyable and best times since I joined and all the friends I have made over the years, I shall miss you all but you never know I may turn up at a meet sometime in the future!
Thanks for everything,
Brad

good luck! exciting times.

may i be so crass as to ask how much it costs to ship a car to Aus?

Make sure the car is fully washed including underneath and a certificate of cleaning accompanies the car. We shipped my son's Midget to Freemantle some years ago, this was supposed to be done but was not, WA Customs hit him with a bill for about £200 for cleaning when it arrived, they're a bit particular about not importing any foreign bugs etc.!

All the very best Brad and enjoy your new life back amongst the family.

Hope the 996 makes the journey unscathed and be sure to keep us posted on all things Porsche down under.

Jeff

Only have an estimate and have used an agent in Adelaide called Iron Lady Imports who for a management fee of $990 will do everything for you on top of that approx. £7-10K all up but does depend on what Tax you pay on the car!

I am reliably informed by both my agent and shipping company that it does not matter how clean the car is before it goes, and mine is clean both on top and under, that it will be cleaned regardless at the port, cost estimate around $350 (£200)

Blimey, finally, Brad!
(That’s not meant to sound negative, you understand, but you may agree you’ve waited a fair time to get this together).
Best of luck to you for your future with your family and 996 down there... keep in touch[8D]
(enjoy that Porsche!!)

thanks. That's quite a fee to ship the car! Enjoy your move.

All the best for your future down under Brad.
It'll be great to get back to the family.
Kind Regards
Andy

It may seem a lot but there are some important factors in that at least I know the car its only done 55K full service history in immaculate condition (concours winner) plus even with shipping costs if I sold it there would get all my money back plus a lot more. Some things are worth the cost you cant take it with you when your dead!

I have sent e mail.

Needless to say, Best of luck.

John
Got your mail and don't forget if you want to come to Perth whilst visiting your son you have somewhere to stay when there. Will definitely stay in touch.

Well the 996 is on its way left on Saturday to be there hopefully on the 2nd Feb, then the fun starts with customs (5-6 weeks WA stands for wait awhile, customs clearance $s, import duty $s GST $s valuation $s cleaning $s, inspection $s, registration $s ) but I am assured from my agent Iron Lady Imports that all will be fine. for anyone wanting to ship a car to OZ this is the way to do it as they manage the whole thing from start to finish for a very reasonable management fee as there is enough to do moving the furniture and the paperwork, we could learn a thing or two from them as they are probably the most difficult country to get into permanently and I have been going in and out for over 20 years. will keep everyone updated on the progress of settling in another country in the other side of the world.

Well arrived on the 1/1/17 to be greeted by 39deg heat, what a change from -3deg cold! Gradually getting to grips with the Ozzy way of doing things so have bought a car as a daily user, its a Holden Cruze SRI Z Series Sport has all the bells and whistles and goes like crazy so will have to watch the speed cameras over here as they hide! The 996 has gone through the Suez Canal so its on its way having called in ports in Italy and Egypt so tracking on line. I think I am about to purchase a private number for the 996 (911CS) at a very reasonable price so will see how it goes.
For those of you over there enjoy your post Xmas dinner. Will keep the updates coming.

Finally got a "normal" car Holden Cruze SRI Z Series Sport MY 14 Hatchback 1.6 turbo petrol fully loaded with leather interior and 18" alloys as well, all the bells and whistles including voice activation, SAT NAV, keyless start and rear cameras! Been detailing in 30+ Deg heat but now looks the nuts! Getting used to the driving style over here, watching the speedo but now have the cruise control sorted and undertaking, texting whilst driving etc. plus jumping red lights, seems quite common over here. Standard of driving not good. Missing the 996 but hopefully going to my first PCWA event on the 1st Feb.

Good to hear from you Brad.

You wont see many driving around with hoods down in that heat. We returned from Noosa just north Brisbane today. Weather was 28C which is about the level we like. Cant say the driving was bad in Noosa, most people spent the day on a surfboard[;)]

Hope the proper car arrives safely, keep us upto date.

Best Regard's

Been here only 3 weeks and have already got a car and now a house. 3 beds, 2 bathrooms, utility room, entertainment room, large kitchen dinner, outside entertainment area with lights and fans (you need them) and a massive double garage and all for the sum of £210K ($350K Aus). Made an offer, got accepted, last Monday and signed the contract there and then and it takes just 21 days to completion (7 months on my UK house) then I can move in so should be 6th Feb! Its much easier out here to buy. The sales are on so a chance to grab some very good bargains.
