Hazard Indicators?

Here is a question to all the aficionados of Carrera 3.2 (1984). When the button is depressed to activate the hazard flashers do both left and right indicator arrows on the dash flash intermittently?
I have just been checking the hazard switch and indicator lights and to my amazement the dashboard indicator arrows do not light up. Yet there is nothing wrong with the exterior indicator lights. The hazard push switch (911) itself does flash when depressed however on my Boxster both the hazard push switch and interior indicator lights on the dash flash in tune with each other.

No, on early 3.2s that still had the hazard light switch on the dash (the same as an SC) pushing the button on dash operates all the external indicators and the button itself flashes. The direction lights in the rev counter do not light. This is how it works on both my '84 3.2 and my '83 SC.

Sometime after '84 the hazard switch was relocated to the center console and maybe those switches operate differently.

Mine has the switch on the centre console and yes, it operates differently (as described in my previous post).

Is it feasible that my '86 Coupe doesn't have hazards? The centre console houses the heated screen switch & the air con fan switch. I meant to have a look at previous threads etc etc but kept forgetting.

I believe hazard flashers became a requirement 1April 1986, however all the pics I've looked at have them , including 84 and 85s, however, position of the switch seems to vary. I wonder if your car was a UKDM car? Should be able to tell from chassis no being in series 91GS 10 0001- 10 4031.

I would certainly have thought so, switch on centre console is where it should be.
if you are saying there is no switch anywhere it seems very odd to me , maybe someone else will be able to shed some light on this?

On an 86 car the heated rear screen and hazard light is in the top of the centre consul, one switch either side of the speaker fader

Air con, if fitted, is underneath this, temp control and fan speed, a knob for each!

Yes, should be pretty obvious really.

Appreciate the info lads.

I suspect it'll have been messed about with in it's time & isn't quite as it left the factory. One clue to this is that there were speakers drilled into every conceivable interior panel (even into the lower backboard behind rear seat backrests!!!). I'm slowly getting her round right & recently located a good condition & original rear backboard & steering wheel (doesn't help that it has blue interior though). I'll get there however, & it looks like sorting the centre console & switch configuration needs adding to the list.
