First Porsche ...

Three months into `CR`ownership, club membership and enjoying every minute.

Manual - short shift; PSE; AC; PCM ... unfortunately no buckets.
Presentation / condition at the test drive was outstanding, easily mistaken for a `new` car !
Opted for a gtechniq ceramic treatment package as I`m not a `detailer` ...

Thanks to Steve and the R2 members for the welcome.

Hello Andrew, welcome aboard and I'm sure that you will find a number of kindred spirits in R2, they're a good crowd from those I've had dealings with.

Five months ... a total mileage of 2500, not a daily hence runs are thirty to one hundred miles and included a superb weekend in the Highlands with R2 members.

Such a special feeling no matter what the speed or the conditions ... Steering feel - Shortshift gearchange - Sport mode throttle response - Balance - Engine noise - Sport Exhaust ... !!!

The gtechniq ceramic coating is excellent in keeping most of the crud at bay and makes cleaning so much easier.

Negatives ... poor dipped (Halogen) headlights - Warranty conditions re. additional wheels & tyres - no oil temperature gauge

Great aero design ... to keep the licence plate clean !

I have also the same thoughts regarding the dipped halogens. For my daily driver (currently a BMW 330D X Drive) xenons are an absolute must but I had to settle for halogens in my quest to find a Guards Red Cayman S (read 'impossible to find'). I worked on the principle that the amount of night driving (mostly for use in summer) would be minimal and have also upgraded the lights to Philips Extreme Vision and found that improve matter quite a bit. I am also aware that bulbs degrade over time and in my experience even replacing with standard bulbs can help. I think that halogens lose about 10% of their brightness per year?

I've tried those a few years ago in an A4 Avant. To be fair they're all ok but will never get close to xenon or LED, and all tend to have a short lifespan owing to being over volted. Carry a spare...!
