Northway Porsche

I was wondering if anyone in R19 has used Northway Porsche for servicing and if so, are they pleased with the work?

Many thanks

Tony

Yes very pleased. I've been using Northway's for well over 10 years - ever since the extended warranty on my 993 expired. I bought my car from OPC Reading and it was looked after by Paul who now works at Northway's. Both Ray (Northway), Paul and, I believe, one other are ex OPC Reading. They've done regular servicing, rebuilt the engine, revamped the suspension and fitted after market exhausts etc... They seem to have all sorts of Porsche's in, from cars much older than mine to modern day water cooled.

They are generally very well thought of, knowledgeable and always very busy - give them a call or call over to see them.

Have used for a 944 and my 996 Turbo - always been very happy. They are often busy so plan ahead, but have always tried to help with anything short notice - i.e. I found a leaking radiator 2 days before a track day and they squeezed me in :)
Pragmatic so wont do things for the sake of it and are open to things like you supplying own oil etc if you can source it cheaper.

I can confirm the comments of the first two replies, I'm very happy with their work. They have looked after my 944 S2 for the 10 yrs I've owned it, and for the previous owner too. Good comment about their pragmatism...we have on several occasions discussed whether to carry out work or defer it. A recent request to change brake fluid turned into a battle of seized and snapped components which was dealt with methodically and cost effectively. Whilst you'll see a lot of the recent cars there, I'm comforted by the knowledge that there's no 944 problem that they will not already have dealt with!

As good as your going to get.
Used them for nearly 20 yesrs, don't do unnecessary work, labour rate is only £65+v. They are 911 PW magazine contributors.
Beware minimum 4 week lead time on bookings that goes out to 6 in spring.
Can not reccomend highly enough

Hi Tony,
'Yes' and 'Yes' to your questions! Used them several times over the years and always had a good experience. A friend also bought a car from them and has been very pleased with the purchase and subsequent service.

Hi all,
Thank you all very much for your comments which are good to hear. My warranty is due to expire soon and to be honest OPC Reading have not treated me that well despite spending a great deal of money with them over the past few years.
I was recently quoted for tyres that were twice the price of a good outside dealer and they would not budge on discount despite my car being in for a service and MOT.

I know where I will be taking my car in future.

Tony

Hi Tony

Your experience echoes my own with the OPC Reading - hence the reason I moved to Northway's when the extended warranty on my 993 expired all those years ago.

If you go the Northway's route you won't be disappointed and in fact you will probably see it as a 'breath of fresh air'.

Kind regards
Anton

I had my Boxster inspected by them when I got it and a major service and other work done this week.
As per the previous comments, they are excellent. Knowledgeable and really helpful.
They have always talked me through everything and even spent some time on the internet then emailed me a link to a part I needed. Then they said just pop in with it and they will do it while I wait as I couldn't get it done on Monday when it was with them.
They really are very good indeed.

After a bad sales experience at the OPC I was recommended to go to chat to Ray Northway. He was full of free advice about what I should look for.

Bought my 996C4s from another and then they diagnosed I had bore scoring. They lovely Paul rebuilt the engine through the winter months and they continue to look after the car.

i wanted to buy a 944S2 and once again did the same. Rays brother Mike likes working on the older cars so he looks after this one.

helpful, friendly, knowledgable.....can't speak highly enough about the team at Northway

Another vote for Northway here. I tried three other Thames Valley independent Porsche specialists before settling on Northway - definitely the best of the four.

A thumbs up from me as well. When I got my 996 C2 I immediately looked around for the best independent in the area as I wanted someone knowledgeable and who wasn't going to push unnecessary work at me. Since then I've had a couple of services as well as new brakes (discs and pads) as well as a Dansk sports exhaust fitted as my old boxes had rusted through. Great service, decent prices and really nice people too... A winning combination.

At our Monthly meetings during conversation, Ray Comes Highly recommended by everyone who has used him and I would say use Ray, and if you have to go the extra mile it is going to be worth it.
