Broken indicator stalk

Any advice please on repairing broken indicator stalk on 2003 Boxster?
My son has broken the indicator in that, indicator will stay down while going left but won't stay up when turning right.
Had same experience in wife's Boxster a few years ago but was written off before we could repair it.
A second hand 3 stalk unit is £119 but I believe it is just a piece of plastic that has broken which holds the indicator in place to self cancel.
The indicator arm will work but just won't stay up.

Thanks
John

Very common fault. You can buy a new 2 stalk unit from an OPC for about 100 and change over the OBC or CC stalk. No point buying used as they fail so often!

It requires steering wheel removal, which puts off some. There are a few fiddly bits, but there are many good DIY guides around. A competent independent should have it done in no time.

My Indy did this for £206 including fitting while I waited.
2 stalk was £98, 3 stalk was £478, 4 stalk was £199 plus vat and fitting, so no brainer!.
Apparently the management stalk just unscrews and fits into 2 stalk module.
Can't understand why such a huge difference in price.
Anyway, brand new unit so should last a while longer.

I bought a 944 indicator stalk for my 986, cos it has the same fitting structure on the indicator side. I have already taken apart my old one, and have seen the problem. I will have a go for £40 and let you know how I get on at the end of the week.
