R29 Surrey Region - New Club Night Meeting Venue from June 2016 onwards

At last night's meeting which was held at The Star, it was announced that future Club Nights, i.e. from 14 June 2016 onwards, will be held at Silvermere Golf and Leisure, Inn On The Lake.  It should be noted that the June 2016 Porsche Post will still say that meetings are at The Star.

The Star has served us well but it's rather cramped and noisy. At Inn On The Lake we'll have a dedicated meeting room, overlooking the lake, that's large enough to both meet and eat.

Useful links at Silvermere are:

We'll post a news item on the main website shortly, and an email will be sent to registered users whose Profile Communication Preferences include R29 Surrey as a region that they want to receive emails from.

Please remember that you can view R29 events on the main website and download/print the current list of events.

Dan.

The parking arrangements at Silvermere haven't been established.  It's a golf club as well as an eaterie and cars are coming and going all the time.  I don't think we'll get our own parking area - we will however have a great meeting area with a great view over the lake.  Once the new Porsche posts have arrived we'll be emailing people to make sure they realise that the June meeting will not be at The Star.  Regarding dress requirements, it's casual - maybe take a look at our gallery to get an idea of what people tend to wear.  Dan.

Good evening all

Let me introduce myself, my name is Leigh and I am a new member to PCGB. I am looking forward to the first region meeting that I will be attending for several reasons.

Firstly I will get to meet you all and be able to talk all things Porsche to you rather than driving my wife mad with it. I have just recently purchased my first Porsche so my wife will be more than pleased that I can be bending someone else's ear rather than hers about how much I love my new acquisition.

Secondly I am rather pleased there has been a change of venue as I only live a few minutes drive from the star so now I get to drive my car that much further (and most likely the long way there)!

Thirdly at the time of the next meeting we will be just two weeks short of our first wedding anniversary and it is Silvermere where we got married and had our reception.

Re the parking there is an area of gravel/sand just to the left of the Tarmac car park as you go in that might be an ideal place to use, it is essentially an overspill part of the car park but is that much further away from the bar and meeting room (which is also the room we got married in). As an overspill it is often used as there never seems to be a shortage of parked cars there due to its popularity as a golf course, bar and eaterie.

I look forward to meeting you all but it's most likely that you will hear and see me coming as my 997 is cobalt blue and I tend to have the sports exhaust permanently on ( please accept my apologies in advance if I forget to switch it off).

Best

Leigh.

hi Dan
i wasn't referring to the dress code on my previous reply, i just wondered what format at your meetings, i.e. does everybody stand around the bar drinking or is it like a formal meeting

having never been to one before i am not sure what to expect

I'm up for that. Sounds like a great idea. I've also registered for the display on that day.
