Dear All,

I am seeking some advise on what child seats would best fit the back seats of my 86 coupe ? I have a 2 yr old and a 4yr old. I am of course not keen on the idea of having them both in my pride and joy !!! But its something that if i want to drive it ? is now unavoidable. :)

It might be that someone has one/two for sale ?

Thanks in advance

Ed

Hi Ed,

I used to drop my twins to nursery on a regular basis in my '87 coupe so it is very possible.

I still have the seats and belts I used so I'll send you more details tonight.

Steve

Sorry guys - the photos I included didn't agree with the forum - if anyone can delete my post then please go ahead.

Guys,

I did a lot of online research to find the best seats for my kids for the 911. I was taking my twins to nursery on a regular basis so they had to be right. This is a summary of what I found.....sorry I couldn't work out how to post pictures here so contact me and I will send them.

The Porsche 3.0, 3.2, 964 and 993 all have similarly narrow rear seat wells, and it is difficult to find a seat to fit. The child seat specialists are Quickfit SBS based in Stanmore (no affiliation) and it is to them that I went for advice. I was told that the best seat to properly fit into the 911 rear seat-well was the M&P Sicuro or the Klippan Futura. They are the same seat, just different branding.

This seat fits right down into the well as can be seen in the photos, and is a nice snug and secure fit.

I used these seats for both of my twins, from about age 1 yr to approx. 6 yrs. I know people have shoehorned other seats into the back of the Carrera however you need to be careful that the seats don’t hit the sides which makes them unstable.

Now obviously, our priority is the safety of our children, and we all know that this particular seat is not good as a rear facing child seat - there simply isn't enough side head protection for a baby. However, forward facing for 6 months + is fine. All my kids have loved going in my 911.

Unfortunately they do not work quite right with the standard 3 point inertia reel 911 seat belts so I had the specialists at Quickfit SBS make up their recommended belts which can be easily retro fitted without any permanent modifications (easily reversible when the kids grow up).

YOU NEED TO AVOID – “Buckle Crunch”
The pressure on the buckle from the seat can burst it open in an accident
The custom made seat belts from Quickfit SBS should be installed as shown in the picture at the top with the buckle on the opposite side below the existing 911 buckle so the other seat is still usable.

Now for my personal advert……….
Child Seats for Porsche 911 (3.0, 3.2, 964, 993 etc)
You have the CHOICE of TWO different designs / colours to best match your interior: ANIMAL logos OR SPOT (the Dog)

I have twins so I have a pairs of seats and belts which cost me a fortune but as they say you can’t put a price on safety. Non smoking, no pet home.

Naturally, the seats I’m selling have never ever been involved in any collisions and are as structurally sound as the day they were new. These special custom made belts are included in this sale.

I’m looking to recoup some of my costs so I’m asking for £130 for a single seat and custom safety belt combination.

Pick-up LU73BU (Leighton Buzzard) or MK91EB (Milton Keynes) OR I’ll package them up and send by courier as they are quite solid and heavy.

Call me on 07803 601988 to discuss.

In case anyone else stumbles across this post whilst looking for answers the Trunki travel booster seat fits nicely in the back of a 964.
