Iphone (lightning) cable for 997

Tried a few OPCs and the internet but have not been able to resolve this but reckon there are some very clever bods on this forum....

The cable that connects an iPhone to the universal audio interface has an iphone (4) connector on one side and two connectors on the other (a USB and a 10 pin plug). I believe the USB is used for charging and the other plug is used so that the PCM can interface properly with the ipod or iphone to play songs, etc.

The problem is that I have upgraded my iphone and need a iphone 5 or 6 connection (lightning). The easiest solution would be to use an adaptor from the iphone 4 connector to a lightning connector but my 10 pin plug is also broken so I need to replace the whole cable. Does anyone know where I can get one?? Porsche don´t know, which really surprises me because I am sure I am not the only one to have upgraded my phone in the last 3 year[:D]

Any help much appreciated!

You would have thought your best bet would be to buy an Iphone 4 to Iphone 5 converter (under £5 on Amazon). Regards, Clive.

Thanks for helping. Got that (£29 from Apple [:(]). But the problem is that the original cable is broken so I need a new one.

Sorry, I misread your post. Assuming you've tried and are unable to source a replacement cable through your official dealer, the cable itself has standardised plugs, so it should be straight forward for an audio engineer to effect the necessary repairs, I would have thought and you can then use the converter. Later models have a different PCM set up, so a cable with an Iphone 5 connection is probably not available. Regards, Clive.

Is this the cable you're after James ? http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod21580/Multimedia-Connecting-Cable-for-Porsche/

Thanks, Clive. Steve´s post gave me a link to design911 where I was able to source the replacement cable and will use the iPhone 5 converter. I also managed to spend another 250 quid on stuff I didn't really need. heheh.

Excellent news, James. [:)] That's the wonderful thing about this forum and PCGB as a whole, if there's a solution to a particular problem, someone here will usually have it. I did take a look at the Porsche parts catalogue for you, but couldn't locate that cable, so may I ask a favour? if the cable does indeed turn out to be a Porsche original part, would you let us have the part number here please? I can then place a link in the technical section of our Register forum for the future benefit of our members.[;)] Many thanks, Clive.

Part number is 997 612 471 02, Clive. PS - the only part I can see in the PET is that number with 01 at the end and is described as iPod connecting cable. It's just a single cable without the usb cable part.

Deroure are showing the 02 part:- http://www.deroure.com/partinfo.asp?MAK=3&MDL=29&TBL=3664&SMA=0&SMO=0&ST=99761247102&SC=1&PBID=139528

Sorry to be dull, will this work in my 2007 997 C2S with PCM? If so where would I plug it into the PCM?

Afraid not. Need the universal audio interface in the centre console under the arm rest which is on Gen 2 cars.

Thanks for that...the goods arrived today and happy to confirm that it was an original part and it works perfectly. I now just need a trailer to store my massive iPhone 6! The number that tscaptain posted later on in the thread is correct.

thanks captain, i'm on the look out for a gen 2 C2S now actually, really want PDK too, not many around at the mo though :) - all seem to be C2's not C2S's!

As for iPhone, the more as I know is about iPhone data recovery. Nowadays, we are surround by digital technology products. Especially about iPhone. We are used to contain all important data on it, like contacts, photos, messages, notes, calendars, etc. If you lost or deleted these data accidentally, how can you recover it. Since I have met this issue, with searching tutorial guide on Google, I found [link=https://www.tuneskit.com/iphone-data-recovery-for-mac.html]Tuneskit iPhone Data Recovery[/link] to help me recover lost data on iPhone X. There are 3 smart recovery mode for you to choose. You can check more info about this iPhone data recovery tool on the Internet. Hope this tip is useful to you.
