R31 Events : Everything You Need To Know Is Here

FORTHCOMING REGIONAL EVENTS

Where to access event information:
Full details of ALL forthcoming events taking place in the Cotswold (R31) Region can be found on the Club website in the Cotswold (R31) Region's Events pages and in the Events section on our Facebook page. We also maintain an online (GMail) Region Events calendar* which you can use to update your own electronic calendar. (If it's not already installed you may need to download the app for your phone to do this). Our events are also listed in Porsche Post but, due to publication lead-times (typically 6 weeks or more), these printed listings may not include additions, amendments and cancellations, so SHOULD NOT be relied upon. For your convenience, a quick reference list of events is shown in the post below.

Please be aware that we do not undertake to contact members personally about events or activities. With such a large number of members in the Region it is impractical for us to do so. We therefore suggest you sign up to the social media networks we use (R31 Forum, Facebook, Twitter, etc) to receive notifications about events as and when these are posted. Members should also consider that, whilst the Regional Organiser(s) will try to field enquiries via email, text and telephone messages from members as expeditiously as they can, they are unpaid volunteers with other responsibilities and commitments so a response cannot be guaranteed. Please therefore check relevant information sources BEFORE contacting your RO(s).

If you want to join in activities:
If you'd like to participate in any of the Cotswold (R31) Region's events, please check the event details for guidance. For some events we ask that you let us know that you plan to attend (along with the number of attendees). You can usually do this by making a post in the relevant 'Sign Up' thread within the Cotswold (R31) Region's Forum area or via the email link (where provided) on the relevant Event page in the Cotswold Region Events Area on the Club's website. Please provide your full name, name of anyone accompanying you and your car details. Alternatively, you can visit our Facebook page and click on 'Going' under the appropriate event. If you don't tell us you're coming along, we may think there's insufficient interest and the event may have to be cancelled or down-scaled.

Late-breaking event information:
For all kinds of reasons, it's sometimes necessary to cancel or reschedule events. As we're not always able to update web pages or forum posts immediately prior to events, and as it's impractical to contact members individually or make prior announcements in Porsche Post due to publication lead times, we strongly recommend you subscribe to the Cotswold (R31) Region's Twitter Feed and/or our Facebook page for last-minute announcements. Over 500 Club members, enthusiasts and partners now regularly follow and engage with us on these social media channels and we would encourage everyone to join this friendly, vibrant and mature online community. Please be assured that our Facebook page is run as a private group for Club members only. It is moderated by us and those posting are only able to do so with our permission. Contrary to popular myths, the use of social media presents minimal risk provided you take basic precautions such as not posting details of your credit cards, PINs, passwords, holiday dates, security alarm code, where you leave your spare key, or other personal details.

Members from other regions/members' guests:
ALL Porsche Club GB members from ANY region are very welcome to attend ANY events exclusively organised or run by Cotswold (R31) Region. Individual members are also welcome to bring their partners and up to one guest. At some events, such as the R31 Christmas Meal or others where numbers are restricted or may be oversubscribed, priority will be given in the first instance to Cotswold Region members. For events NOT organised or run by Cotswold (R31) Region but announced or promoted via Cotswold (R31) Region's media channels, the organisers of such events can determine who may attend, so this may not extend to all Club members.

What to wear:
Attire is usually casual/informal unless otherwise stated; frankly, anything goes in the Cotswold (R31) Region. Hi-vis clothing is worn by some members when undertaking marshalling activities at Club events and some extroverts who otherwise just like to be noticed. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may sometimes be necessary and only footwear meeting the requirements of EN ISO 20345:2011 Class 1 S3 (Safety footwear for clog dancers) may be worn at events where high-frequency clog dancing is performed by members. The use of personal care products, such as deodorant, is encouraged particularly when participating in indoor activities and close contact events .

NOTE: Due to circumstances beyond our control, venues, dates and/or times may need to be varied at short notice. Similarly, a lack of support and event clashes may cause an event to be brought forward, postponed or cancelled altogether. To avoid disappointment, please therefore ALWAYS check the Cotswold (R31) Region Events Area on the Club's website or our Facebook page BEFORE you set off. Porsche Club GB and its officers accept no responsibility for any losses or inconvenience caused by changes to or cancellation of events organised or attended by Cotswold Region.

* The calendar is for guidance only. Events, dates and times published are subject to change and/or cancellation, sometimes at short notice. It is updated from time to time as events are added or amended but its accuracy should not be relied upon. Please always check other information sources BEFORE setting out.

Re: R31 Events : Everything You Need To Know Is Here 2020/11/18 17:27:37 (permalink)
Just to update members that, in the light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Cotswold Region (R31) Committee have continued to assess and review the running of regional events, drives and meetings.

Unfortunately, following updated Government and Club guidance (given 26th November), the Committee regrets that ALL scheduled 2020 events have had to be cancelled and no physical gatherings will be able to take place for the foreseeable future, most probably into the Spring of 2021. This decision is consistent with the Club’s guidance for the well-being of members, their families, friends and the wider population.

Should the situation change regarding face-to-face meet ups, we’ll keep you notified via the the Region’s area here on the Club forum; our Facebook group; and the Cotswold Region's WhatsApp group. That said, please be aware that we’ve managed to run a few virtual get-togethers via Zoom and will continue to do so when we can, so please keep checking back for details of more online activities.

As you can imagine, we're gutted that the events scheduled in our original 2020 programme could not take place but as many people have suffered with the virus and, sadly, some have lost their lives, safety has to be our absolute priority. Many thanks for your understanding and continued support in this challenging time.

Stay safe.

The R31 Committee.
