Jukebox???

NTFS, FAT, FAT32, WAV, MP3 I've tried 'em all, but I just can't seem to get Jukebox to recognise the files on my USB memory stick at any price. []

Let me into the secret guys, what's the trick? [:)]

Regards,

Clive

Clive, I could not transfer MP3 files on mine but the problem was my 32Mb USB stick. It had a security partition that made it incompatible with the Porsche reader. I found an old "insecure" USB stick and was able to transfer files, albeit it took a while to transfer 1900 tunes... Curiously the same 32Mb stick was fine with the 997 USB Slot in the centre arm rest.

Hi Ralph, Thanks for that info. I've reformatted the stick several times so would have thought all the memory had been wiped clean, but I think you're right I need to try another USB stick. Will see if any of my kids can loan me one! [:D] Will let you know how it goes. [;)] Regards, Clive.

Hi Clive, it will be the same as Audi, BMW, you need to have no partitions on the USB memory stick and format it as FAT or FAT 32. Then just copy the music from your laptop to the memory stick. The next stage of getting it into the jukebox requires you to drive the car as it takes a while and the PCM will shutdown if you try to do it without the engine running. Good luck

Hi Adrian, Thanks for those suggestions. I've actually done all that, but still no luck. I'm relying on you to sort it out for me tomorrow! [;)] [:D] Regards, Clive.

Hi Clive will try. One question are you copying music files using iTunes because if you are that won't work, it needs to be the raw music files. Bring your laptop, a blank usb stick and I will see what I can do then when we drive from the pub to Banbury it should all have uploaded to your jukebox.

No, I'm copying them directly from the CD using Windows Media Player to the USB stick. I've tried the files in WAV, WMA and MP3 formats both in their own directory and individually in the root, but still no joy. I'm taking the car back Monday. [] BTW only joking about getting you to sort it out tomorrow and thanks for the offer - you're a top man! [;)] Regards, Clive

Can anyone help? With my Macan in the garage and the ignition on, I tried today to download 9.5 Gig of music from USB to the Jukebox. It starts the download fine, but after a few minutes the PCM switches off so only about 1% is downloaded. How can I avoid running the engine for an hour to download?

Hi Derek, the short answer is you cannot, the download will take a long time as the data rate over the PCM's USB is slow so the PCM cannot stay on long enough, the only solution is to go for a drive whilst downloading the music. It's no different to a BMW or AUDI when it comes to downloading into the Jukebox, the process takes longer than the PCM stays on, if the PCM stayed on for the whole duration you would have flat battery.

Problem solved! Download a folder (album) at a time. Even a short run will allow you to download 2 - 4 folders. Once each folder is downloaded it stays in the jukebox. If you try to down load all 5000 tracks in one go (the PCM capacity) it will get to about 100 then switch off. Those tracks will then not be kept on the jukebox.

When I picked up by 981 Boxster I took my music from iTunes on a memory stick and the salesman loaded it all for me! But I find I don't have my playlists and cant see how to load them onto the Jukebox. So ended up with an iPod in the glovebox to have my favourites. But there must be a better way. ie playlists on the Jukebox but I have yet to find it.

A solution My car has been on a CTEK for the last 6 weeks as I can't drive at the moment. I decided to add six more large albums to the Jukebox and they all went in and the PCM did not switch off after a while as usual. So if you have a CTEK, connect it and just leave the car whilst everything loads.

Still did not work Ralph. The PCM still turned itself off after a few minutes, even with the CTEK engaged. I did not want to leave the ignition on for an hour or so. So it is back to folder by folder[] I bet 356 owners don't have this problem [:D]

Derek, Sorry to hear that, I thought I had found a universal fix. It may be the Cayman/Macan threshold is different or that mine has been continuously on a CTEK for 6 weeks. Does it stay on whilst you load a large group of folders or is it one folder, switch off/on load another folder?

Success at last! [:)] I decided to substitute Judith's jewellery Christmas present and give her a new memory stick instead [;)] and I have just managed to transfer 400 odd tracks over from my ITunes library onto her Macan Jukebox (but only the ones she likes, you understand). I've really no idea why the system wouldn't recognise my old memory stick - it must just be the cussedness of all things electronic in general. So pleased was I, that I had the music turned up really loud in Tesco's car park today and 2 young ladies came up to ask if I was having a party! [8D] Yippee. [:D] Clive.
