I've experienced two different scenarios when the key fob didn't work.

Once was when I had a new battery fitted. The fob didn't work, but neither did the central locking and/or electric windows. It turned out they were all on the same fuse which had blown.

The other is something that happens quite often, especially over the last year with fewer trips. I wasn't aware of this 'feature' initially, but the key fob is effectively disabled if not used for something like 5 days. You need to manually open the door and start the car to resync it again.

I'm not sure either is the answer to your current dilemma though.

You're right. I use the car daily and earlier in the day had used it including unlock, roof down, frunk release.

For now I can live with it but ultimately I'll get it seen to. Unless of course there's a secret reset by the car.

There were some cases where recently installed blue tooth transmitters blocked the signal. You have not had a upgrade of any kind recently to the music / phone that you use? Or fitted a link to the stereo of any kind?

Well I had the radio on at one point. Nope, nothing like that. Gummiflage on the roof and window rubbers, white grease on the ends of the roof tensioning cables but that's all.

This is a good resource and group and POC is very helpful. I would also recommend the 996 Carerra Fb page https://www.facebook.com/groups/996owners it is a closed group and sticks to 996 posts etc with a lot of world wide knowledge Welcome to the 911 _996 world and the car looks great in a nice colour. Well done

Nice indeed, welcome!

Just got my wheels back from ExelWheels - they look great and have come up really well. Very pleased with the results and Chris is a very knowledgeable chap!

I also just picked up my very first 911 (C4S). I’ve had it for about 3 weeks now and love it!

Just like yours, it had split and corroded back boxes. Friends Green Porsche, fitted Miltek back boxes for me and they sound INCREDIBLE! Would recommend the Miltek system if you like that throaty bark when you put your foot down. No droning noise at regular road speed either.

Cheers Andy.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Previously I had a 981 Black Edition, then a 987.2 C4S, followed by a Cayman R, brief encounter with a M235i and now (all being well) the 996. Have to say that I'm more excited about the 996 than any of the others. I see from your profile pic you have something very beautiful and similar to mine :)

Yes nearly identical, but mine has G-Grey interior, looking at the FGP website it looks like you have a great car there.
Take it easy & enjoy the ride.

I Had a run to the south coast, I was looking for some autumnal pictures but the weather was so good it looks like high summer. I saw some nice cars out on a Monday, smart German, Old English. The car is running great.

Awesome pic and beautiful weather for it! Very jealous.

Not today, but this past weekend gave AJaX a bit of a spruce up as whilst "dirt don't slow you down" it's quite therapeutic to spend some time keeping things A-OK.
