Hello,

Another Cayman owner here. Have had the car since April 2010 and am based in London (or Sussex some weekends)

So how many owners do we have in the SE of England?

A long time ago (when I used to ride motorbikes) there were regular meets at the Devil's Puchbowl (Hindhead) for tyre kicking/tea supping sessions. Assuming its still allowed/available, a meet could be done there.

There is also the new tunnel to, um, explore. Though there are speed cameras in and around it.

Hi Raja , a good idea to have local groups and one I think we can make work subject to register members getting to know each other.

There is a list of Caymans by region which I drew up on FAQ's for this purpose to give some visibility of cars by area, so if you check the area you envisage getting together let me know or put a notice up as a new thread and see what response you get. I do have email address's but won't give them out unless members say to. However, I have no problem with emailing each member in an area to inform them of such meetings.

Members wanting to generate local groups can place a notice such as "Who would like to meet up for a get together and a chat at ....... on whatever date time" then members can respond by email through the forum or by reply on the forum. Some say the email through the forum isn't exactly reliable.

Additionally, not all members use the forum.

Well, there seems to be 49 of us in the Kent/London/Surrey/Sussex area.

Would folks be interested in meeting up at Box Hill?

Thoughts?

Hi,
I've recently joined PCGB and the Cayman Register.

I live in Kent, about 5 miles from Brands Hatch. I've joined R25 but haven't had a chance to attend a meeting yet...

I've had my Cayman since April, it's my first Porsche and I can't drive it enough....

Chuchillo, the Hindhead Tunnel is great in a Cayman...

Cheers,

John.

Hi John, and welcome to the forum.

Can I suggest that you contact the Admin Team to change your status from Guest to Member which will then allow you to access areas of the forum which are blocked for Guests.

Good to hear that you're enjoying Cayman ownership and look forward to meeting up with you at future Club and Register events.

Hi John

Cool! Am at Greenwich, so Brands is just a short hop for me. Actually, one of the reasons to moving to Greenwich!

Have attended the Kent (@Brands) and London (@Fat boy's Diner) meets a couple of times, but not in recent times, as free time has been rather short

Really need to make more effort!

What's the story on the Hindhead tunnel? When it first opened I heard some stories on "how boy racers were ruining it for the locals with undue noise and racing". Was that just Daily Mail Hand Wringing or is awareness heightened there?

Hi Cuch,

I'd driven down the A3 many times over the last few years and watched the approaches to the tunnel develop. I happened to be in Guildford a few months ago and thought I'd run down there and try it out. There are cameras but lots of bends and the surface is great...

Happy to join a meet at Devil's Punch Bowl for a cup of tea and some tyre kicking...

Cheers,

John.

Hi Jeff
Just noticed this thread on the forum - not been on for a while.
Usually go to R10 meetings - don't see many Cayman's though!

Interested in any Cayman gatherings

Hi Stu,

As you say, Caymans seem to be somewhat rare beasts at many of the gatherings I've attended. A pity because, as you know, they're a really great driver's car.

Thanks for getting in touch and hope to see you at some R10 meetings. Unfortunately, Sundays aren't always that convenient for me but I found the spring/summer Monday meetings with TIPEC better for me.

At Kevan's suggestion, I'll let this thread run for a while longer to pick up people such as yourself who aren't forum regulars and then try to collate the responses.

On the point of rarity at meetings, there were just three at the Cornbury House Open Day last Sunday, one 2.9 with an aerokit from over the border in South Wales, Cayman Wirral with the Cayman R PDK and my Gen1 CS. But there weren't a lot of Boxsters and I only saw one Cayenne. Several actually turned up in things not built by Porsche!

Personally, while my regional meet is 1st Monday evening I'm thinking I'll start going to some others depending where I am.

There were a few Caymanites who were regulars on the forum last summer who seem to have dropped out since cold weather threatened. Hopefully they'll show up again soon!

Hi

Reference lack of Caymans at Cornbury house there were more than you state as mine was there and least one more all be it not on the Porsche carpark due to lack of space.

So lets get our facts right here please.

Thanks

I'm afraid that if you're not seen then you're not noted, if I'd seen your car I would have given you a Cayman register screen badge but when I looked across to the other areas some had parked in I didn't see any Caymans. I was there from 11until around 2pm when things were winding down and I spent quite bit of that time speaking with those Cayman Register members I met and Alan Armstrong who I took over the register from a month ago.

Sorry I didn't see the other owners but my attention was taken by those I did meet.

Hi Jon, Alan and Chris, and welcome to the forum.

Good to hear that you've joined the Club too Jon and it would be helpful if you could include your location and Club region in your forum Avatar notes so that we know where you're located. I think that you need to notify Club Office of your vehicle details to get on the Cayman Register - you should have received a pro-forma in the package to complete and send off.

Look forward to hearing from you all on the forum and perhaps meeting up with you this year.

Jeff,

I was not aware that you should notify the club in order to get onto the Cayman register. When I joined in 2008 I had a Boxster and did not get added to that register as far as I know. I think I have given them my details since owning the Cayman. Could you or Kevan clarify how to do this with the club?
Also it would be nice to have a Cayman Register sticker on my car incase I meet anyone else (2013 Factory Visit maybe?)

Chris,

Kevan is probably in a better position than I am to confirm this but certainly I recall filling in a form describing my Cayman (including options) which I forwarded to Club office for registration. That was back in 2011.

Hope you had a good Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
