Do you think we should start a thread on what you have done to your car today. They do this on rennlist and it works really well. You can put anything on from major work through to washing and polishing your car with photo's or without.

Well yesterday I changed the front Brake Pads in 20 minutes (a new record for me), checked my gear linkage because it is feeling very sloppy, and fixed my passenger door handle so it doesn't stick anymore. I am not sure why my gear linkage is feeling sloppy, but when I lifted the gaiters up I noticed a lot of play where the pin on the linkage goes through the gearstick (or vice versa, I can't remember which way around it goes) So I am hoping it is something that won't break, and I will get it sorted at TWG later on in the year

yesterday I fitted the balance belt & pulleys, radiator, header tank, hoses, cleaned the front bumper, removed broken foglight screws & repaired them and repaired the engine wiring loom that had been cut. Its looking 'almost' complete again.

Saturday, rinsed it to remove the layer of ash: what eejit neighbour thought the first gales of the year would be the best time to have a huge bonfire I don't know. [][] Then, drove it 150 miles over the weekend to bed the new brakes in. Can confirm that the new brakes do, well, brake better. And that unmarked Police Volvos on the M40 don't pull you over if you spot them and slow down. [&:]

Drove it nearly 400 miles (seeing soem friends for the weekend) and confirmed that I seem to have fixed the annoying clonk in the front suspension. Diagnosed the water leak into the boot; had a poke around in there during a heavy rain storm and it appears to be leaking in from the rear lights. I know this is the most common leak point, but I had dismissed it 'cos they looked very well sealed to me. Looks like I need to take them off and re-do it. Remembered that I need to wash it. The dirt is thick to the extent that the shape is more Panamera than 944, and it's getting difficult to fit my fingers down the back of the handles to open the doors ... Oli.

Yes Helen you did. but If it's any cosolation for you he is still grinning bfrom ear to ear .And I am sure he will look after it and love it.

Fixed the electric tailgate release! (see elsewhere for the full story!) Swapped the tailgate over - new one (£25!) has fully working demister, all the spoiler bits fit properly, the frame is all black, but the wiper didn't work so that was swapped with the old one. Can't believe how well it fits - dropped into place, screws lightly tensioned, neither locks nor pins needed adjustment and it works and fits better than the old one! Screws fully tightened covers back on, very happy. Off work today, so sorting neighbours ballcock and my passenger door handle.

This weekend I've not done a lot to my 944 other than drive it! I did pick up some alloy wheels yesterday so it needs cleaning inside and out ... []

Finally got the old front seats out of mine ready for the new replacements, but one of the captive bolts was seized and the plate now spins so I have some awkward repair work to do to fix that, so it'll have to wait until I have the carpets out, which will be a couple of weeks. On the "spares" car, I took a bunch of small parts off that I can sell and put them on eBay!

Stripped out the complete interior of my scrap 944 and sold it the same day[:)][:)][:D] Washed and vac my Lux[:)]

washed car down, applied coat of autoglym polish, buffed off with new basic electric polisher [does the job but just as good by hand just not so labour intensive] then a coat of autoglym high-def wax, then "back to black" on spoiler and exterior rubbers, so shes very nice and shiny at present but still needs front end colour corrected so next job is a visit to daytona, had planned to go before the bad weather when i had time off in the week but couldnt make it, cheers jason p

Well, yesterday I completed Step 22 of the winter project = remove rear axle and replace fuel and brake lines. This was remove the 'stubs' of the goodridge hoses (long story but I had to cut them in half....), bag up with the very corroded fuel lines ready to be dropped off and the hydraulic hose factory. Once the fuel lines are returned I can then refit the rear axle. So far this major has involved: Dropping the rear axle Removing 2 x outer axle mounting bushes - then replacing with powerflex Removing the 2 x inner axle mounts then replace with new OE items Removing all brake lines from the ABS backwards, copying them in copper nickel pipe and replacing Removing the rear calipers and cleaning Removing rear discs - quick rub down and clean Will keep you posted !

I looked how I could mount the extra oil radiator I just got. On the inner side the AC condenser bracket that's been left vacant since the condenser was removed seems to be a good mounting point somehow, but on the outer side I'm not sure...?

Same as most weekends, off we went to work (gigging muso at weekends) Cheap £2 rinse at the car wash then load it up with PA speakers and guitars [:D]

Last Saturday I................ 1. removed rear nearside wheel to check bushes etc to see if I could get any indication of where an annoying occasional clonk is coming from, used some rubber lubricant where I could to see if it would make a difference - it didn't, any help with ideas on this gratefully received !! 2. removed nearside front wheel to check in case clonk is on front not rear, ditto rubber lubricant, still clonks [&:] 3. removed dash to try and sort heating control problem ( see other thread ) didn't sort it but learnt a lot more about which levers and knobs move which flaps. 4. Spent what time I had left trying to think where to check next for annoying water leak that seems to flood rear passenger footwell from time to time [] 5. Gave up and went indoors when I replaced all the dash etc, road tested the car and found I now have and annoying squeak coming from behind dash........doh Norm ( ain't owning a classic fun ! ) PS any ideas on fixes for any of the above gratefully received

Went down to my other garage at my Ma's and took the battery of the Turbo S to put on a battery conditioner up here, pushed the 220 forward to get around possible flat spots on the tyres, give the footy a miss to get the kitchen decorated which i started in November ! It was constantly p**sing down and blowing a gale so thought i would get this out of the way so i can "go out and play" when this weather get's sorted bit of glossing to do then job's jobbed. I will have to get the 944's fired up and round the block this weekend, looking to put some tax on the 220 for March then the mild boost/HP hike will start [:D]

Awaiting water pump to turn up so made a start on the front brakes. Removed caliper, stripped down to clean up and paint. Painted rear dust covers on front brakes and fitted new discs. Replaced hoses with HEL braided ones (had to replace a brake line due to seized solid nut). Pulled out archliners to Dynax inner wings. OSF had a huge pile of damp muck in the leading edge of the back of the wing which has caused some rusting. Cleaned up, treated with Kurust and some paint, will monitor but is cosmetic and only noticeable if you're lying down! Got to finish off the calipers and re-assemble, plus the ABS pump is goosed so need to replace it. All those seized looking brake lines should be fun to remove in such an enclosed space! Then it's either on to the rear calipers for discs, pads, hoses and a clean up or water pump and belts if the pump turns up first.

Eldavo If you still have the linner off then pull off the wing. It gives you a much better chance to sort out the ABS pump and brake lines.
