Is it possible to obtain a "birth certificate" for my 71 2.2t....I know VW used to do this must don't know if Porsche do ? The car is a 71 model but the log book only shows the reg date of 1977 !!??

Hi, Just done this for my cars, if you get in touch with Porsche in Reading they will get you a "letter of origin" at a cost of £65.00. This will give you year and month of manufacture, spec, colour and engine number. Cheers, Keith...

It's FREE for Porsche Club GB members - worth the membership fee for a year on it's own. It usually costs £65 for non-members. See thread here for details of how to get a Certificate of Authenticity: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=553799

You should have asked! [;)] Join the club, there's more benefits than people think. Edited to say: Didn't it say as such on your application form? It did on the one I received from the email address in the linked thread.

Are there? Is there a list?[:D]
[:D][:D][:D] You got first dabs on the cheapest Porsche in the country!? What more do you want? As an example, I've just saved around £350 on brake parts at Swindon OPC. They beat all quotes from the well-known independents, and I got between 15-17% discount overall as a PCGB member. £350 - what's that...? About 6 years membership fee paid for?

when was this announced ? Does it apply to non UK supplied LHD cars too ? Years back Porsche UK helped me with this for my car , but at the time it was definitely not FOC if I was a member of PCGB. If it is now free, it should be PUBLICISED ...... how is anyone meant to know these benefits exist unless we are told. There is not much keeping me in the PCGB at the moment, so all these little bits of info / savings are useful.

I think it was launched at the Boxster and Beyond event - so it's only just come in. Not sure if it's in the current (new) Porsche Post, but if not it'll probably be in the next one.

This is very new and not something I have been aware of till this thread. If it was launched at the Boxster and Beyond event then I think that is after you applied Matt. If not you could always ask for a refund from Porsche. When was the Boxster and Beyond event? Ian.

I don't think that event has happened yet. I just went through the latest PP and that event is mention in the future tense, but there is nothing about this new benefit, not even the register secretary seems to be aware of it!

Just so you all know......i contacted Porsche and they sent me the forms and it is indeed free to members !

i have just done this service with porsche was done over the phone took my details and came back with the good news was asked to send a chque, never recived any app form or asked if pcgb member, but free tax for life its cheap at £65 if this service is availible free to members its not well published

Sent an email to customer.assistance@porsche.co.uk Got a reply and PDF straight away, does state on the form free to members (£65/nm), so I promptly printed out 2 copies, filled them in and posted them back.

Got the certificate through the post today.......impressive looking document !!.......a spooky thing....my car was born same month and year as me !!!!

Got mine today as well. Great idea. Bear in mind that Porsche Post has a delay of up to six weeks, it seems so far behind now we have instant communication! [&o]

Thanks Alan, Do you mind if I sticky this on the main members-only forum?

That's fine Paul, as has been stated this a fantastic member-benefit, still getting my head round the fact it's free to members!
