I have just brought a 1971 911 T and would like a proper service done on it......any suggestions of anyone that will do a good job in S.E. Essex / E. London ?

I have come across Design 911 -who charge £325 plus parts (Genuine) which on a "bog standard" service come to around £300.......so £625 all in......is that resonable ?

Thanks

don't know who to recommend in the Essex area ...... but I wouldn't trusy a 71 with any old 'specialist'. From what I can gather, Design 911 would not be the best ones to entrust your early 911 to.

Jaz in Wembley have a very good reputation with early cars. Don't know if that is close enough for you. Ian.

Hi, Tony at Carrera Engineering, Unit 7 Middlebrook Farm, Hoe Lane, Nazeing, Essex, EN9 2RJ. Has looked after my Porsches for many years owns a 1974 Carrera Targa ex concours winner PCGB, very reasonable has a web site, will not find better, ask nicely and he will show his car.[:D]

have you tried joe at hp motorsports which is 1 minute from design 911, lots of older 911s last time i was there including 1970s rs and newer turbos, regards jason p ps i would not take my s2 to design911,let alone a 70s 911, no disrespect meant to design 911[karl] but i always thought they were more about parts and upgraded wheels?

Thanks guys I will call both those places and let you know....glad I asked as I was gonna go with Design 911 !!!

Autostrasse near Coggeshall are very good. I used to use them for years until I grew tired of the long drive from where I lived. Don't go near 'Design911' for anything! [:(]

I dropped the car of at 8.30 on Monday morning, its now Wednesday afternoon and they still have the car as they have had trouble finding the right set of points !?....it should be ready this afternoon.......i feel like an expectant father !!!!!

Bosch points are available directly from Porsche for £7.50, but should also be available from his usual parts suppliers like Kontact or EuroCarParts

By Eoinsloan WARNING: Points including Porsche supplied items have been causing problems due to the wrong material being used by the sub-contractor in making the 'heel'. Several friends have had mega problems of very rapid wear. If you have the same problem let us know. As for Marelli - yes a potential problem. I know as my 1968 911 T Rallye had twin plug heads and the Marelli distributor 4 separate contact breakers..... Eoin Sloan Race Car Index

Jo and Phil at HP Motorsport did a great job in servicing my 2.2T, they also sorted my brake calipers as i was pulling to one side under braking. Will definately be using them again.

Does anyone know what DSD motorwerks are like?

I need a service on my Cayman S and they are the nearest to me but I can go to Porsche Colchester or RPM technik where i bought the car if no one can recommend anyone nearer to Southend.

I would recommend DSD Motorwerks. I wouldn't hesitate to use them.
+1 for DSD Motorwerks, speak to Dave Dennet he knows all about the early cars.
