Wheels needing refurbished

Not sure who Glasgow PC are using now. I managed to kerb my Cayenne the second week I had the car, courtesy of highsided NCP car park. I put the car to Glasgow, 3 attempts later the wheel was to a standard you could call acceptable. PC were helpful and very apologetic for the standard of work and during the process they moved to an alternative provider, however, at the end of the day it was disappointing that it took some many attempts to get it right. (I believe the mutli-spoke are difficult). Incidentally the finish is starting to flake at the valve on the wheel, not good. I have heard good reports about the Wheel Specialist in East Kilbride (no personal experience). It would be good to get some open views on who provides the best service. [8|]

I have an 18month old Cayman whose wheels are showing serious pitting around the valve stem holes on all 4 wheels :-(
I took the car to Glasgow PC and was advised that under no circumstances that Porsche will replace the wheels and that the best I can hope to achieve is for P UK to pay for the refurbishment.
Not sure where I stand on wanting new wheels but that aside , does anyone know who P Glasgow use to refurbish wheels and can anyone advise as to the quality of the work ?
Please feel free to PM if you do not want to let me know your experiences in an open forum.

My main concern in getting the wheels refurbished is that they will never be as good as factory finished ones and pitting may recur in a year or so - but I suppose the 4 on my car do not say much for factory finished wheels !!!

Recommend the Wheel Specialists, good job, very happy with both price and result. See gratuitous pic of one front wheel attached, taken on the R1 Easter Run to Applecross. (Ok, it's not a great example but hey, it was a great weekend out!)

Funny that I have the same issue other than the fault is bubbling up of the paintwork inside the wheels on my wifes Peugeot. The dealer told me Peugeot see wheels as consumables and I am still fighting to get them refurbished. I have heard Chameleon in Renfrew are good but have no personal experience of them. http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=5551646277 There is a company called Ergon who have fixed scuffs on my wheels you might want to mail them on info@ergonvehicleservices.co.uk. They are a mobile service and will come to you. Note as wheel refurbishment is such a subjective issue I am not recommending either company to you. I was satisfied with the work from Ergon and a fussy friend of mine has used Chameleon five times - he changes his cars very often... but that does not mean of course you will be....

I have used Wheel Spec in E-K in fact it was myself that negotiated a discount for the PCGB owners and I know a lot have used them.I have only one criticism is that they tend to use to much spray on the inside of the wheel ,I was at the cleaning day on Sunday and was given a hand to take of my wheels to clean then and all had to be forced off the hubs and there was a deposit of paint on all the hub locator's I just picked it off but it was enough to have baked the wheels on to the hubs.I would still recommend them but make them aware of the situation I believe they where doing work for the OPC or had approached them

Hi,porsche glasgow have an in house wheel refurber now,and think they use jb cosmetics or ergon for some other work,i used to do the wheels at the old site when i worked for wheel wizard 2 years ago,(finished trading at present),ive heard good and bad things about EK wheels but ive seen some of their work and its nice enough, they powder coat base and spray laquer finish, euan at ergon does a nice job too,and jamie at JB does a nice finish as well.,theres also a place in govan (i forget the name)but a guy called mike the polisher owns it and his work is top notch

Thanks for the input folks. I've not heard back from Porsche yet but when I do the info in this thread will be useful.

Hi Guys I have known Mike for years and he is doing a lot of top jobs for garages all over the UK. He has invested plenty money to get the best machines for giving the wheels a great finish. Most of the guys building show cars use him due to the finish. If you want his number PM me and i will pass it on. P.S. thanks for all the good info in the forum. I am looking to buy a newish boxster s in the coming months and being on here is helping a lot. cheers Iain

Hi, Just bought a Caynenne and looking to get the Wheels re-furbished.... Have used ESP in the past and they have quoted £80 per wheel (20 inch wheels) Mike the polisher is quoting £75 per wheel, was thinking of using him as he is recommended on here, does he offer a discount for club members...? TIA...

As I have said try the guys in E-K as long as you tell then you are a club member you will get a discount and negotiate a good price .I know about a dozen members have used there services

Hi I have Carrera S 20” Satin Platinum wheels on my Cayman S. I managed to scuff a Wheel at the weekend and am having problem with getting the refurb matched. According to Porsche, it’s the worst colour they have come across to Repair. They gave me a code of OB5, but the repairer Rolling Rims say that they struggle to match this. Has anyone had similar problems and found a solution that they were happy with? Adam
