no idea .. but I'd advise looking at any of their cars before buying .. I was in there the other week and there was very few cars of the quality ( body & paint wise ) I'd expect from a dealer ..

This place is near to Specialised Cars of Malton?  Presumably no connection, or is there?

Looking at their general stock they seem to be a jack of all classic cars. Not any marque specialists at all. Probably aquired the 964 as a quick sale. Given as a 4S, a schoolboy error and they should know better (maybe they do and no-one has informed them). A very early 1989 model too. You can always ask for (and expect) the VIN and Engine # too then do your own checks - HPI if serious.

Bit silly of them not appearing to give a price and suggests lack of knowledge maybe. Interior will be less than perfect (in that colour) on close inspection - linen colour carpets *will* be ingrained no matter what anyone says. You never know, offer a daft price and go from there. Invoice/receipt history is a must, factor another 10-20% to correct or replace worn items. If you want to fork out for an engine leakdown test in determining rough condition of engine, then good.

Now, the Gen I 997 C4S they have... a brilliant performing 911. Evidence of sorting the Gen I engine concerns and a sensible offer, then it gets interesting. Would prefer the 996 C4S though - investment.

Hello everyone,

is anyone looking to sell their 964? The car I agreed to buy on Wednesday has fallen through.

Thanks

May be of use to someone.... https://rpmtechnik.co.uk/sales/vehicle/964-carrera-2-2/

That gives some good context on values for an honest used 964, it actually looks like pretty good value to me.

I hope this is the right place to post... forgive me if not!

I'm just starting to look for a red C2, and there are a few interesting cars available. The first link is to a 28,000 mile car at Paul Stephens. It is on consignment from an elderly chap whose wife fell ill a few years back. It basically became unused apart from fastidious annual servicing. It's on for £87,995, which is obviously strong money, but it looks to be in great shape. Has original wheels and mirrors to go along with it, but at that price and mileage (it really is very clean) I'd think it was only one for a collection - I'd feel guilty driving it in the rain.

Then there's this at 911 Virgin, that looks to be a really well sorted car, ready to be enjoyed. It seems to have a PCGB sticker above the rear view mirror, so if anyone could point me in the direction of more info I'd love to hear it. I am hoping to see it on Friday.

Finally there's one unadvertised 89k miler at JZM that needs a little paintwork and a clutch but looks to be a much-loved car, in the same ownership for the last 19 years with a very full history. It's as yet unlisted and not ready to be viewed or driven but could be an option when those are done. I believe they are looking for around £63,000 for it.

On the private side, this looks absolutely brilliant, and seems to have had all the hard work done. The only issue for me is wanting to part-ex my 996 Turbo S rather than just buy outright, hence my preference for a car from a dealer, but I am investigating SOR options in the meantime.

Anyway, if I've missed any other similar examples I'd appreciate a pointer, or if any of these should be raising any flags. Please be gentle, it would be my first air-cooled 911 (and I'd be getting an inspection done come what may).

I would imagine JZM will replace the clutch and fix the paint before charging such strong money.

In fact, all those prices look pretty strong, unless there has been a increase in values since last summer, when I consider what JZM valued my car at in August.

Don't know what other people think?

Hi Colin, you are quite right - the paintwork and clutch will be sorted for that price. Apologies for not making that clear.

Probably the truth contributing to the asking prices is you'd be hard pushed to find much around with less than 100k miles on the clock these days - if used properly :)  Don't forget, they are SOR asking prices, not actual firm selling prices.

I've now seen the three dealer cars, but not the private sale. Got a fair offer for the 996 Turbo S in part-ex from 911V and their example feels right - amazing history - but I'd still want someone to have a good poke around it. Has anyone got a recommendation for who to do an inspection? I am aware of a few but if anyone knows a good 964 specialist I'd appreciate the steer. Cheers.

Tom is probably one of a very small selection of dealers you can buy from without the need for an inspection.

These dealers may be reliable and trustworthy making an inspection unnecessary but regarding prices, they are all trying it on in order to get as much as humanly possible for these cars which helps to fuel the market and keep it artificially high.
