Hi My name is Duncan and I have just joined, I have owned my 924s since March 2000 this is my second Porsche, the first being a 914/4 2.0 of 1976 vintage that I imported from Arizona, I bought it for two reasons one it was owned by an Australian friend who was unable to take it back to Australia as they were not allowed left hand drive cars and two because it was almost 25 years old therefore no Road tax, unfortunately the government stopped that shortly after I returned. Where is the 914 forum by the way?

Hello Duncan - good to see you here - if you get time send me a Register form with details of your car, I would be happy to see you in the 924 Register

There isn't a 914 area just yet as it would need a moderator to keep an eye on posts. If you are interested in becoming moderator then contact Bruce Manning at:

914@porscheclubgb.com

Thanks

I have owned my 924 for over 6 years now and she's been fantastic !!

She's dark red with very groovy black and white check seats, is coming up to her 21st birtday (Apr 04) and has only done 71k miles - OK, we live in Guernsey so we can't go very far (or fast) ... although we have been all the way to Gibraltar and back.

It would be nice to meet up sometime in the summer when the boats are running properly !!

Hi Paul

I have been a PCGB member for a number of years having owned a Boxster, 996, 914 in the past and have just put down the deposit on my fourth Porsche...... A 1986 924S in Guards Red with Black interior.

I will be collecting the car from its present owner in late Feb as they have gone on holiday but wanted to say hi and get the ball rolling as far as joining the 924 register is concerned.

FYI, I am the guy in Scotland that has been looking for a while so I am pleased to say the search is over.

I look forward to hearing from you and you should hear a lot more from me on the forum going forward.

Cheers

Andy

My name is Dave Jones - I've been a member for a number of years but just joined the forum. I have two 924's - a Carrera GT and a Turbo series II which I haven't seen for some time !! - it was my intention to make it into a car for sprints and hillclimbs but I haven't got around to getting it going!! - The CGT is also not used as much as it should be but when it does get used its great fun.
Herewith the CGT from a couple of years back

Andy, hope your 924 is going well, have you been to a Regional meeting yet?

Hello Dave

How far have you got with the hillcimb/sprint car? Are you going to keep it standard or start to turn it into a lightweight rocket?

P.S. My advice re: Carrera GT - is to wait for a sunny day and take that GT for a blast for a few hours, you know I'm right

Hi Paul

I am due to collect the car on the 28th Feb...... It'll be a long wait as I want to get out there and stretch it's legs a bit. As soon as I have the car I plan to attend a few of the regional meets and get back into the swing of the PCGB circles.

Have you managed to send out a register pack at all?

Cheers

Andy

Hi Paul,
When I get the time......I will try and turn the 924T into a lightweight - after I cut the rust-seized lock off the garage door !! - the engine needs a rebuild and as it was a stolen recovered there are a few suspension probs to sort out - mind you most bits need replacing for sprinting anyway - Its a good basis but time is the ever present enemy!!! As for the CGT I'll get it started this w'end and see what the winter has left me with - last summer it overheated and may need some TLC but I'm sure its not too serious.

Hi all, the original 924 nutter signing in. I bought my first 924 way back in 1988, it was bronze, though everybody refered to it as the gold Porsche. It was only four and a half years old when I bought it for a little over £8000, about the same price as a mark one XR3i. No comparison. I dont think I would have still been driving the XR3 up until September 2002, a total of fourteen and a bit years of ownership. I only stopped driving it because I got the chance to buy another one with better body work (I was never kind to my 924) for the sum of £230, but which needed the dashboard loom reapired. Well cutting a long story short I made one good car out of the two. Those of you who visit the club web page often will have seen it in the "I think my car should be here because page"

Hi all, My name is Tony I've owned my 88' 924s for about 14 months now so I have recentley had to MOT her, she sailed straight through and I drove her every day! I'ts my first porsche I would have liked a 911 but could'nt afford one, now I'm glad because the 924s looks fantastic, drives well and I'm not worried about taking her out anywhere and leaving her .would'nt change her for the world! Paul, can you let me know if I filled out a reg; form or not. thanks.

Thank you Paul. For those of you out there who have 924s, if you want to pick my brains you are welcome. I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge over the years, done an engine rebuild using a WA coded Audi block, (including the head) distributor rebuild, gearbox replacement, cured obscure misfires, failures to start despite fuel and spark being present, reconditioned the front callipers, (which someone may be able to prise out of my hands if the price is right as they dont fit the turbo) and solved other obscure problems. Remember that there is a wealth of technical data in the Haynes Manual, and self help is always the best, but if you are really stuck, just post your question. I may not be able to help, but I usually check the forum daily so you wont have to wait long for a reply either way, but understand I am not trying to set my self up as an expert so treat any suggestion at just that.

Paul, I for one would support as convoy to a round of the 924 championship. I remember going to Donnington for a round of some kind of Porsche suport race and the Porsches had privillaged parking inside the track. At lunch time all assembled Porsches took to the track, (there were a few, it took me 15 minutes to get on the circuit; over one hundred I think) for a couple of parade laps, and we didn't spare the horses. No Melbourne hairpin though! What about some skillful negotiating by the register secretary.
