WOW
its the only place to go
Scottish Highlands only really begin once you cross the Great Glen WE are booked into a cottage by Neptune's Staircase at the end of the month
WE usually base ourselves in Skye but decided to stay a bit nearer. Intend to do the 500 but will go via Loch Carron rather than start in Inverness where you miss some of the most spectacular scenery.
From Corpath, Fort William we will head up towards Spean Bridge, turning left at  Invergarry  to Loch Garry (Incredible summit view), Loch Loyne and Loch Clunie towards Loch Dulch and the 5 Sisters. Must turn left at the beginning of LOch Dulch to a spectacular view of the Loch.
Stop at Eilean Donan at Dornay for photos of the castle.
Be nice to drop down to the Skye Bridge to turn round at the Roundabout for spectacular views on Loch Kyle - on a good day one of the best views in Scotland.
Nice to able to take the back route towards Plockton as again more spectacular views of Skye
Hit the Main West Highlands way A890 and Loch Carron more incredible views before catching up with the "500" at Strathcarron
Stop at the LOch Kishorn Fish Bar (been going there since it opened 25 years ago)
Turn left to Applecross over an amazing mountain road - not for the faint hearted and along the Coast Road - more spectacular Views
Join the main A896 and head towards Torridon and around Loch Torridon up to Loch Marie
Loch Garloch on the poirt side and then on to Loch Ewe and on to Ullapool where we have RUN OUT OF TIME
Either stay over night or head back

Fort William has a Morrisons which is the best price and good fuel (Usually Shell)
Reasonable Fuel on the bank of Loch Dulch and again in Skye
Applecross has a help yourself Petrol Station - expensive
and Ullapool had a Shell station
Not sure about further round but surely Thurso and John o Groats
Back to Inverness

Fuel was a nightmare in the 996T.  The gauge reads only 50L of fuel, leaving about 14L 'in reserve' once the light comes on (sort of).  So you can imagine how quickly the gauge dropped lol!  I really wish the long range 97L Carrera tank was viable in the Turbo.

Ullapool had Shell last year - the queue was funny as me, a GTR, 370z, two 350z and a Boxster queued most mornings for super  :)

I think on one occasion i had to use some 95 RON - just plan the route carefully and make sure you set out with a full tank each day for max range.

There's a thread in itself- I don't think 95 will hurt (I was told the ECU will adapt True or False) I run 97 but would have no real bones about a tank or 2 of 95. I think if your on a track day or similar high speed romp then 97 all the way

There is 95 octane and 95 octane
Sainsburys and Tesco is low 95v where as Morrisons is often Shell

But how do you tell

There nearest Shell is Oswestry in Shropshire - defenatly runs better

Here's my new project... good starting position, a few things to tidy up. It will be used regularly though to keep it fluid and to enjoy the ride!

Added some side stripes to the old girl.

According to Chris Craft, I'm officially the 'Unluckiest 911 owner in the world'.
My first 4 x 911’s all suffered catastrophic engine failures. Now on Porsche no. 8
