Upgrading to Xenon (HID) lighting

For those of you thinking of upgrading the lighting on your 964 to Xenon (High Intensity Discharge) units you should be aware of a recent investigation done by Auto Express into the klegality of such upgrades.   The YouTube video is here.

Basically, the light units fitted to the 964 were designed for use with halogen bulbs and the reflector design is unable to give the correct beam pattern when fitted with the xenon bulb, giving rise to a potential MOT failure.

You might like to consider as a legal alternative the higher output H4 bulbs manufactured by the likes of Philips and available in Halfords.  Also remember that ageing reflectors and lenses can drastically affect light performance.
