i found some software for decoding becker and all other radio makes if anybody is interested.

You enter the last 4 digits of the radio serial number and then it tells you the unlock code. Problem is if it is the one that has been floating around the internet it does not always guess the correct code.

I know the code of my one so am happy for you to test it to see if it generates the same code.......

Here is my code card with my finger covering the unlock code. Enter the last 4 digits of my serial number, 5967, and if the unlock code comes back 1115 then it is what I call the hit-or-miss decoder.

I've got 3 Becker 4-digit decoders, and they all generate 1115 for your serial number. I bet the real code is within two digits of 1115. 1113, 1114, 1116, or 1117?

No Richard, not even close. My code is 1217. I have the original radio and code card and after 9 years of ownership I have entered 1217 many times when I removed the battery. It is a funny decoder or it has some bug in it. Sometimes it gets the correct code, sometimes it is a few digits off, and sometimes it is not even close. The serial number has a letter in and some thought the accuracy depended on the letter. But that is just pure speculation. Wish I knew who came up with the decoder. The assigned code is based on the serial number. A few years ago a math wiz guy on Rennlist figured out how to determine the code and he had no decoder.

I wasn't that far out - one of my guesses was only one digit out - shame it was 1 hundred. [:D] [:D]. What amazes me is how many people lose the code card. Loren's thread of lost codes on Renntech is now 55 pages long!

55 pages of guess the code. If Loren charged just $1 for each code request he could be driving a turbo. Here are 2 code cards. Top card with 3262 as the serial number and the decoder says 8694 is the code. Card says 8694 is the code. So we have a hit. Bottom card with 3048 as the serial number and the decoder says 8997 is the code. Card says 9109 is the code. So we have a miss. That is why I call it the hit-or-miss radio decoder....

I had a business which involved decoding radio's in the 90's, I still have many serial no. calculators for Blaupunkt and Becker stereos along with many others. Anyone stuck give me a shout and I'll try and resurrect them [:D]
