Boxster Gen 2 3.4 S - Buying, but slight oil leak?

Hi All,
On my way back into the fold after a few years away - getting a 987.2 S from a dealer (who will rectify the issue) but it has a long(ish) term slight oil leak. Ideas?; they think sump gasket or filter housing (which is possible of course).. Apologies for the quality of the pics as they are snipped from a video..
The odd shape on the floor is the cover showing how much is leaking, then the cross over pipe in front of the engine, then the bottom of the filter.

It is being done before i buy it together with a leaking rad pipe (and hood elastics) - just wondered if anyone had any potentials on the DFi's such as chain covers for example.

Hi Jonathan,

Welcome back!

As far as I know the modern water-cooled DFI F-6 engines aren’t known to be oil-leaky, so it’s difficult to speculate about the source of the leak. I would have thought the best way forward would for the dealer to clean the area thoroughly and either run the car themselves or maybe hand it to you for a time, while monitoring the situation regularly to see what develops?

Jeff

Many thanks Jeff and thanks for the welcome!..

Yes, dealer is going to complete and it will be covered under the warranty they are providing I believe; just my inquisitive self wondering where it could be coming from.

I wanted to see if i could push to a gen2 just for peace of mind around ims and all that stuff!..

Looking forward to doing some mild mods and hopefully sharing the info!.
