Hi All
I have be asked to post the following from James who has leaking Rams on his Turbo. He is after advice from anyone who has done this repair see below.

" My 996 turbo spoiler has failed due to a leak from a hydraulic ram and pressure loss. I would like to get it repaired, but prefer to avoid the standard parts replacement since they don’t tend to last very long and are expensive. Does anyone have any experience with electric ram replacements or alternative replacements for the repair? I am based in Cheshire, so a local specialist would be preferred ideally.”
I hope this request is useful for myself and other 996 owners. Many thanks in advance
James

Just as a quick follow up, I have advised James on the following upgrade done by this company for a member which may be of interest to Turbo owners.

I have just had the failed spoiler repaired by P-Speed in Germany.
https://www.p-speed.de/en/porschec-996-turbo/8/porschec-996-turbo-spoiler-unit-repair-and-upgradePorsche© 996 Turbo Spoiler unit repair and upgrade
Complete inner replacement and upgrade of parts.electro hydraulic spoiler system mounted on 996 / 997 Turbos
www.p-speed.de

After posting to Germany got full diagnosis of issues/problems in English including 8 photos. - Rams leaking, pump broken, springs broken, incorrect micro-switch previously fitted.
Repairs included with free return postage:
· Upgraded cylinders
· Pump upgrade including replacing all inner parts and seals
· Filling, bleeding, pump, cylinder and lines
· New microswitch
· 2 day simulated test drive
· Lifetime leakage warranty
Really happy with the repair, now refitted. Cost a little over €1k

Hi James,
I researched this a while back when I had a spoiler failure warning - expecting the repair to be imminent. Thankfully my spoiler is still holding out! But I concluded that a refurb with improved parts was the way to go - instead of electric. Just my opinion.

I found these guys, who offer the same p-speed repair but are UK based. Ultimately I’m reluctant to send them outside the UK, especially for no real saving - or any at all! https://www.revolution-porsche.co.uk/upgrades/porsche-996-and-997-turbo-spoiler-repairs-and-upgrades

Let me know your thoughts. I hope this helps.
