Question on recalls, service campaigns.

Hello,

sorry another newbie question

is there a way to find out what service campaign codes mean?
Is there a way to see if your car has had a recall - and what was done?

I did email my local dealer with my VIN on a recall question - and this was there reply.

'There are currently no Warranty Recalls on this Vehicle but after looking at previous Campaigns it seems work has already been completed.'

Do they have the ability to see what was done to my car even if it wasn't done with them.

No problem in posting a question, we are here to help if we can.

Several manufacturers have a recall and service code lookup tool on their website. VW is a good example where their tool gives both recalls and service campaign information for a specific vehicle. All that has to be done is that the VIN No. for the vehicle is entered.

Unfortunately Porsche has not fully implemented this lookup tool . If you go to their website here you will see that they only include outstanding safety recalls applicable to your vehicle.

The DVSA also has a lookup tool here, but again it only returns safety recalls, and in the case of Porsche, just says you should contact Porsche!

A better resource would seem to be the car-recalls.co.uk website that may be found here. If you open up the 'More Details' you will see the Manufacturer Ref which is thought to equate to the service campaign number.

I realise I haven't fully answered your original question. Suggest you may have to go back to your OPC as only they have the records allowing them to advise a full list of recalls and service campaigns carried out by them or another OPC on your vehicle.

If your service book was presented to the dealer carrying out a service campaign (recall) it will be entered into the book. I'm sure your local dealer can explain any your car has had. If for example it's a 970.2 diesel there should be 3 in total. First two are to fix a potential fire issue with the heater system and 3rd (one I'd avise against having done) is to implement a software cheat to hide the original emissions software cheat. It makes it sound like a commercial diesel from the 80's and they claim they can't reverse it.
