Porsche Extended Warranty Refund

As you may, or may not know, the extended Porsche Warranty is an insurance policy and therefore subject to uk insurance laws I understand.

As I’m trading my car in and have over a year of the two year warranty left I’ve asked the dealer I purchased it from to cancel the warranty and provide a partial refund (the policy mentions this is possible but isn’t clear how you achieve it).

The dealer seems a little surprised by this request, has anyone else tried this and succeeded?

BTW, the dealer buying the car is ok with this (after all, they just sell a new warranty to the next owner)

Mine is with Real Garant Versicherung AG and on the second page of the opening summary has a section entitled "How can I terminate the contract?” Very specific about how and when it can be done, including reference to a specific Change of Vehicle Ownership section in the main body of the contract.

I bought 1 year of the extended warranty 16 August 2021 but sold my 911 in November 2021 and applied for a refund through the OPC. From recollection as long as you have more than 9 months remaining and give 30 days notice you are entitled to a refund pro rata for all complete months remaining less an admin charge. I did get the impression that Porsche make this process very difficult so you have to be persistent to get your refund. If in doubt do what I did and contact Porsche GB at Reading and they can help if your OPC is not very clear about the process. It took me over a month to get the refund buy the way.
