All,
I have just removed the radio from my car is its not working. Plan to send it away to see whether it can be repaired/ recommissioned.

All the option codes I have seen for my model year (and US Spec) seem to indicate Blaupunkt or Becker units. My car was ordered with option code M440 (Manual antenna on left, loudspeaker, noise suppression) but no mention of the radio type. The unit is a Motorola FM 481AX unit (Serial Number 1247 5344), no date stamp, but just wandered whether it would be the original unit?

Any thoughts welcome!

US delivered vehicles, even with an option code for speakers/ antenna etc, did not necessarily have a radio fitted by the factory. Dealers often fitted radios themselves for customers to provide an element of choice over and above factory options. However, Blaupunkt is a common fitment.
If you are looking for repair of your existing radio try Classic Chrome in London.

Thought that may be the case, i.e. that the radio was dealer fit as there is no reference on the CoA information I have.
Tried Chrome London (www.chromelondon.com), they said they only do Becker and Blaupunkt and no loner carry our repair to "client owned audio".
Also tried Radio Rescue, they said they have enough work on, so any other suggestions are welcome!

So, have my radio checked over and is now back in the car along with a new speaker, speaker cable and aerial, which is all now fully functioning.

On the aerial, I have a cheap chrome unit, but would like to source something closer to the original Hirchmann units. Any suggestions?
