Something a little different for the Summer,
Sion Hill Hall and Tennants Auctioneers
A unique tour offering a full day programme visiting Sion Hill Hall, a stunning Edwardian stately home near Thirsk and Tennants Auctioneers, the UK’s largest regional auction house situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
[attachment=cars 2 small.jpg]

We will start our day at Sion Hill Hall, one of the last pre-eminent country houses to be built in Yorkshire before the Great War. The house is exquisitely furnished with a fine collection of antiques and works of art and sits in in five acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.

The group will tour the house before being served refreshments and then taken on a tour of the gardens. We will depart for the 40-minute drive into the Dales and arrive at Tennants just before lunch, where a delicious two-course lunch will be served.

Mains choices:
Pan fried seabass, buttered broccoli, sautéed potatoes, chive & white wine sauce
Garlic and herb chicken Kiev, new potatoes, dressed rocket
Desserts choices:
Honey and almond parfait, mixed berry compote, honeycomb
Seasonal fruit crumble and custard

We then have the opportunity to learn about the fascinating history of Tennants, a fourth-generation family firm and one of the busiest auction houses in the UK. This will be followed by a guided walking tour, offering visitors a chance to see behind the scenes as this fascinating business, learn about the inner workings of the auction world and see the items in the fine art sale being prepared.

Our group will then have time to browse the galleries and visit the gift shop before being served tea and scones.

Peter/Val...what another superbly organised day...Well done! You should work for Shearings! Sion and Tennants were both really interesting, the food great and Michael at SION was fascinating to listen to. The weather too....A full flush as they say!

We both really enjoyed every aspect of today. Two unexpectedly complementary visits. Both were a revelation in different ways. Very high quality throughout, including the presentations, food, organisation and timing. Very many thanks from Viv and myself.

Thanks to Pete and Val for organising this excellent outing, we both thoroughly enjoyed the day, very interesting locations to visit, great weather and good company and food, a perfect day out.

Thanks to you all, my first trip over the border for a Yorkshire run, we really enjoyed the day and the company.

Hope to see you again soon

Kathryn and Mike

Thank you everyone for supporting this visit, twenty six was the right number to visit the house, it was a real pleasure to look around both the house and gardens, our host Michael was very interesting.

The tour of Tennants auction house was excellent and our guides did a fantastic job of explaing the intricacies of running an auction business, currently watching the automotive sale [:)]
