With the 997 and 987 Boxster and Cayman now being part of the Porsche Classic Register, we are holding a Zoom presentation on Tuesday 7 February at 7pm live from Porsche Centre Leeds to discuss this further and to present the benefits this may offer our members. This is open to all, but is specific to 997 owners, as well as 987 Boxsters and 987 Caymans, and we have a technical talk looking at both a 997 and 987 car on the ramp with a technician talking us through items to look out for.

One of the key benefits to Porsche Classic is the development of the revised infotainment system, and this is now available for first generation 997 and 987 cars (2005 – 2008). Among other features, these retrofitted devices enable the use of Apple CarPlay (from iPhone 5) and Android Auto™ for media playback, navigation and for making phone calls, but still retaining the benefits of Chrono and other Porsche options, whilst retaining the standard look. Hopefully we should have one of these in a car to discuss as well.

A recording of the event can now be viewed here

Steve, Adam,

Thanks for hosting this call. It was very interesting and well presented.

Regards
Mark

Steve,

Thanks to you and the chaps at Leeds OPC for the zoom review last night. It was good to see the new Infotainment system and it does indeed raise the question of whether it will add value to the car or if the original equipment will be better seen on a "classic" car. Although I must admit the benefits of a modern radio, satnav and phone connection seem to be well worth it. I've always thought the 997 models look very "retro" so it's a tricky decision to make.
I think I've replaced most of the other parts mentioned during the inspection on my 2009 997.1 C4S, and it's good to see the bits 'in action' so to speak. Hope to see you at one of he 997 register runs soon, thanks again.

regards
John

Sadly I also missed the 997 classic zoom presentation, is there any way it can be shared to those that were not able to make the date?

Many thanks.

Ditto. Let's hope it was somehow recorded for the rest of us to watch.
