Dealership Gardx offer?

I’m hopefully taking delivery in May of a new 992. Dealer is offering a complete Gardx protection package. External ceramic including windows and wheels plus internal protection. Best price £699. I can see the advantage and convenience of them doing it but can I trust them to do the job properly. What are other people’s experience? Would I be better taking delivery of the car without Gardx and getting a specialist detailed to do it afterwards?

I was offered this as well and declined as I was not totally confident in the correct prep being done prior to the Gardx being applied.
For all I know the dealer technicians may do a superb job and I’ve heard that the products are very good if applied correctly but I know that the local detailer that I use will do a superb job for only £300 more.
my advice would be to look elsewhere and maybe get some recommendations.

Stay away from it. Find a reputable detailer in your area and ask them for a quote. You may be pleasantly surprised and the quality of the product will be much better.

Where in the UK are you?

Agree with what's been said already, avoid and find a local detailer with a good reputation to conduct prep, polish and protection

Is this what dealers are offering now? I thought most were offering GTECHNIQ coatings?

I agree with sentiments above....I had it on my first 992 as it was an Inchape dealer and they have/had? a corporate agreement...I think it's worth getting a ceramic coating but I would take it to a specialist to apply it. You can get it applied to wheels and interior too. I've subsequently had G-Technic (and xPEL PPF) on my cars.

Per Schuey, yes I was offered and took Gtechniq. Dealership has hired Gtechniq detailers so they spend all day doing this after having done it for years. Did discuss at length with outside company but didn't want to drive 80 miles 'unprotected' to have it done, leave there, then drive back up to drive back. If the dealer has good detailers, then get it done there, just not sure of Gardx.

Thanks for your comments. I’m from North Yorkshire. Car ordered via Teesside Porsche. There is a local detailer called DBD which I intend to have a chat with but I think my best option is to nudge the dealer to focus on delivering a quality job. I just wondered what experience others had with the product (Gardx gen3) and the concept that it is dealership trained staff undertaking the work.

I've had Gardx treated cars in the past and have never been particularly impressed.
The perception nowadays is Gtechniq offer the best protection products and having had them myself for the past 2½ years, I tend to agree.
If you go to a specialist Gtechniq accredited detailer, he will have received bespoke training in applying their products and will also provide a long-term guarantee.

It's not a cheap process, but will give you the best chance of retaining the "as new" look of your car for longer.

Regards,

Clive
