Cayman ordered (third one)

Hi All,
Looking forward to getting behind the wheel again of the Cayman, have been lucky enough to have had a T and GT4 both 718's in the past. Can't believe the amount of models that have delivery dates of 2024 plus or special order only.
Have ordered the SE as it was the only car the OPC believed that we would get our hands on this year, 6 months at best and may well be longer.
I was wondering if any of you had a car delayed further because of a particular feature that your ordered such as PASM, Sport Chrono, PTV etc... Are there any options that you should avoid, please let me know.
Cheers Greg

Bose, PCCBs and bucket eats are causing issues in production from what I'm led to believe.

I think PDLS+ has also been removed from the configurator too due to issues getting the cameras.

I have a mate (impatiently...) waiting on GT4RS that is currently running 9 months late because of it!

Not really a car you can use as a daily you worry where to park it, worry about mileage, stone chips, scratches and can give the wrong impression if you visit a client, but it was mega to look at and drive on the right road. It was excellent on track the body control and being able to drift it made you feel awesome, Goodwood and Brands Hatch GP circuits were great memories. The only criticism I had was the gearbox, you want to hear the 4.0 motor and its awesome at around 7,000 rpm, the only trouble was you were going to have to break the national speed limit to hear it and that was in second gear, let alone the other 4 gears. If I am lucky enough to afford to run one again in the future it will be a PDK or an RPM conversion.

Great car, can't afford one and a daily as well.

I think you'll find the PDK gearing isn't different enough to let you redline it on the road any easier!

Only every driven a PDK in a 718 GTS 2.5 turbo on a test drive, was amazed at how quickly it can change ratios, made my DSG Golf look slow in changing gears and I thought they were good. Thanks for the feedback.

Oh they change super quick, obviously, but the gearing isn't much shorter - a handful of MPH in each gear at most. Not enough to make a truly significant difference.

Nice spec.

The only thing I would add is the smoking package, Change the seatbelts to Crayon to match the contrast stitching and the aluminium trim and go for the standard black instrument dials as there aren't any other red accents on the car, plus the black dials will match the Sports Chrono dial. Personally I think silver wheels look better on Gentian Blue but its all down to individual taste.

Dan

Good call on the smoking package, will have a fiddle and see what you recommendations look like.

Cheers Greg

Hi Greg,

Good spec … I’m a fan of blue, and Gentian looks classy.

+1 on the Silver Wheels which enhance the wheel details (not keen on black wheels myself, although maybe you’re going for the stealth look?) and the Smoking Package (hate the dust-collecting hole in the centre console, and I think I’d prefer black belts. All down to personal taste of course.

Hope you get a sensible delivery time - keep us posted.

Jeff

Hi

I recall from the configurator that PDLS+ is available from Nov build date. After waiting 19 months for my Boxster GTS it’s sitting at Sheerness docks. Hopefully it’ll move later this week🥴
