Cayman GT4 RS

Nice but not £265k nice.

Agreed. Cracking powertrain in a chassis not much better than my lightly modded GT4, in fact mine would equal it if I switched to KW 3-way coilovers. Doing what I've done plus the dampers would cost no more than £10k. Add that on top of a 718 GT4 of your choice and you've got 90%+ of the car for 40% of the cost.

The GT4RS seems to be a great car, and really good value at list price, but £265k is cloud cuckoo land if you're buying for driving enjoyment.

The views on the GT4RS in EVO Car Of The Year 2022 are very interesting reading indeed.

An extract from that eCOTY review ...

... while there will inevitably be the outcry that actually securing a build slot is impossible unless you’ve a very prolific customer, so Porsche insist that there are many builds slots for a few years to come, and if buyers are patient then they will get their cars in due course

Yeah right [;)]

No chance in hell. My OPC has had two allocations, and neither car has turned up yet. The first was initially scheduled for a May 2022 delivery but has been pushed back and pushed back. It's currently planned for March 2023...

What Porsche AG are saying about GT4RS availability, and what UK OPCs are saying, certainly differs!

Porsche speaks globally and I'm sure markets such as USA and China get greater proportion of factory output than previously because those markets are more profitable than Europe.

They do Ralph, but there seems to be more of a difference between UK and RoW on the GT4RS when it comes to share of annual production? Although volumes differ across markets, I think the percentages have usually been similar. They seem much more disparate on the 4RS, or is it just my perception?

Not sure. We had a decent amount of 911Rs didn't we? 991 built and roughly one per centre say 30 cars and therefore 35 for the UK (ish).

GT4RS production is being estimated at around 7000 cars from memory, so 3% would be 210 cars. We have around 40 OPCs now, so 5 cars each. 2 per centre seems to have been allocated so far, so maybe it's not far off then. A couple each in 2024, one in early 2025 then a switch to electric?

Sounds like it's maybe about right then after all [:)]

That made me laugh too, Andrew.

Possibly we are more sensitive to "unicorn" allocations UK v The World?

Another thought, shipments outside the EU don't count against emissions targets - although we also have the EU GPF encouraging general marking bias towards Taycans in EU and NA cars in ROW.

Importing a current non-EU vehicle now would require conversion to EU emissions specification.

Said Porsche Cayman GT4RS in question is Now For Sale at Two Hundred & FiftyNine Thousand Pounds against the 1/43 scale model that I've just brought from my local Porsche Dealership & only duly cost me Sixty Five Pounds & which is a total bargain against the said Real said GT4RS that's currently For Sale & honestly I truly feel it'll go for much less than that.

Hi all,

I read the comments about how hard these cars are to come by - but here is a bit of positive counterpoint. I have been a customer of Dick Lovett Swindon for a few years now. Today, I went in to look at buying a 911 Targa at some point next year/early the year after and to maybe put down a deposit. My usual contact there met me with a little twinkle in his eye. We sat down and chatted Targa. He knows that although the Targa would not be for the track, in the past I have used my cars enthusiastically, shall we say. We were sitting in the configurator room and he flashed up the GT4 RS on the screenand asked me if I liked it and how I would spec one if I was given a blank canvas. I said I did and we specc'd it (artic grey, Weissach pack, ceramics, magnesium alloys.) He disappeared for a few minutes and on his return asked me if I wanted that car - he had a slot available - only their second. I was gobsmacked. The answer was of course, yes! The car will be built in February 2023 and will be with me in March, just in time for some spring track days. Goodness, Christmas came early!! So, do not despair, talk to your dealer, you never know your luck. :)
