997 C2S - new Front Springs ride height

Howdo everyone.

i’ve just replaced my two front springs following the front o/s breaking. The car is sitting a bit high at front after fitting for my liking…about an inch higher - I expect there’s a bit of settling to do, but an inch seems a bit much. The car is stock - I measure about 16inch from centre of wheel to arch - rears are about 15. I bought the springs from Porshop.co.uk. (part number 997 343 531 31 504 for PASM - red/green). The supplied replacements were listed for my car, but don’t carry the markings.


should I wait and see if the car settles or contact the shop on the premise that they’ve supplied the wrong springs?
 
It may be the case that the rears have sagged a lot (they tend to do that with many miles and with the weight of the engine in the rear). So using the rears as a reference may not be the right thing to do.

How many miles does your car have?

I suggest speaking to Chris Franklin at Center Gravity and see what he thinks. He will know.
 
The car’s done 90k...engine rebuild was carried out at expense of previous owner and generally evrything appears serviced - I’ll have a look at receipts and see if rears were replaced at this time, but the car sits just about right I would say with the ‘4(ish) finger gap test’ Between the tyre and wheel arch..certainly more than that at the front now. I’ll take a pic later when I get home from work of how it sits presently - this pic is prior to spring break…

90k is more than enough miles for the rears to have sagged. I would not use the rears as a reference.

The suspension will likely need to be refurbished (Chris Franklin will have refurbished ones in stock, so you just turn up and replace them while he has yours refurbished at Bilstein and keeps them himself).

Give him a call before concluding that the front springs are incorrect.
 
This is the car as it presently stands with the new front springs fitted..I’m based in Scotland…Centre Gravity a bit of a journey to have springs physically checked.
 
AntonG, no that's not going to settle, I remember having difficulty when I replaced the springs on mine, I bought ones listed for the car from Porsche and they were way too high, I eventually returned them and replaced them with ones that had the same colour code as the old ones. I'm fairly sure they had not been replaced previously, so how they came to be different I don't know. Did the colour code on the old springs match what was supposed to have been fitted at the factory? I would say its too high at the front.
 
Yes, the springs appear to have been those factory fitted (red/green) - I confirmed this with Porcsche parts listing. Porshop did eventually confirm that the have sent the wrong ones and I’m waiting today (nearly 4 weeks later) for the replacements to drop at my door. Bit of a saga this one, but hopefully be able to confirm over the weekend with fitting…that they’ve supplied the right ones.
 
I reckon that will be a no tbh…after the wait and hassle, I’m glad to get the right sorings and get the car back on the road! There’s still the matter of the wrongly supplied springs that have to be returned…at whose cost?!?
