My Boxster roof unfortunately seems to have failed..
981S 2012
it is inches from closing completely.
two messages in yellow...
Fault of the soft-top control system.
and
convertible hood not in final position..

in addition the passenger window jutters when opening but closes fine
and help appreciated..

I would check the carpet behind the passenger seat. This is typical of cars that have had water ingress through blocked roof drains, wetting the passenger carpet and getting moisture into the control modules sitting under the passenger seat.

Just had it taken to Indi Porsche Specialist yesterday.

Yes water under passengers seat.

It looks like the drain holes were blocked as the seatbelt wet too.

They have checked the code settings and everything seems ok all fuses ok, the roof still determined not to open or close.

From other threads i found on line the suggestion is the micro sensors in the pillar B. maybe the water level affected these?

As if it was the Control modules other things wouldn't function correctly?

thanks for reply..

Really sorry to hear this, not going to be a cheap fix.

Always worth cleaning the roof drains every 6 months or more if the car is parked outside.

Yes had the car for 12 months garaged 98% of time cleaned it 3 or 4 times done 1300 miles

Obviously issue with drains when it was purchased..

Have seen articles on these but struggling to find articles that show all the drain holes not just the rear ones.

not sure water is getting into car from somewhere else??

Have a look on the most popular UK Boxster forum, lots of videos on there.

When you say cleaned 3 or 4 times, do you mean you have cleaned the roof drains 3 or or times or just the car?

If the latter then yes it sounds like the car has not had them cleaned out.

cleaned car 3 times had it detailed too.

Yes hadn't checked the drains. a mistake.

Have found some articles that show the roof mechanism fault finding which will help

and will get them to show me all the possible drain holes that need cleaning.

appreciate your time on this.

B pillar micro switch

pwiss doesn’t flag the fault. Had the same and Uk Porsche dealer couldn’t find the fault for previous owner. I bought it and brought home to Ireland. My Porsche center replaced the roof latch/switch panel and roof motor even tho I told them it’s most likely the b pillar micro switch. Did it in the end and sorted issue 😉

they have to follow a Porsche fault finding tree so if your under warranty that will cover it but if not prob better to let specialist do it as you can dictate the terms…
