Club Christmas event at Bicester Heritage.

2018 at Bicester- free.
2022 - £16 (£12 for members). Same venue.
Why?
100 vendors selling their wares, presumably charged for their pitch?
Stalls selling coffee, food etc. Again charged for their pitch?
A promise of display cars. Presumably at no cost to the club?

Everywhere you go and everything you do nowadays costs a fortune and many things are just not worth the money. Time to cut down I reckon and just do the things that you really want to do.

I was charged £12 to park at the station the other day. I would rather see father Christmas some friendly faces and a couple of nice cars for the same money, everything else is optional. Seasons greetings.

Evening John,

I did reply to your email, but also thought it best to post here.

Since our last PCGB Christmas event in 2019 the cost of everything has gone up astronomically as you will appreciate. The event will also be different from other years with lots of entertainment on offer, live music, lots of Christmas themed activities for the kids, more than 100 stalls both automotive and craft and Christmas themed. These stalls have been offered to local small businesses for free in exchange for a small raffle donation which we are holding in aid of Air Ambulance. We have also been gifted silent auction prizes for the charity as well as holding a food bank which proved successful last time.

We are also partnering with Collecting Cars and giving members that want to sell their car the opportunity to display their vehicle and list it on our special Christmas online auction.

All of our partners will be in attendance with lots of competitions and giveaways and we also have many other surprises in store.

Within an hour of our newsletter going out more than 300 tickets had been purchased, so it seems there are lots of members who feel it is a great event and value for money and looks to sell out like our previous events.

I have more than twenty years of experience organising events in Formula one and the automotive sector, so am welcoming the opportunity to be able to put on a good show!

I hope you can attend and look forward to hearing your feedback after the event!

Kind Regards

Michelle

Thanks Michelle.

The board are really excited about this event.

We hope it will be really well supported as we think that we will be putting on Europe's biggest gathering of Porsches this Christmas. We are offering a safe, secure, friendly, fun, festive environment for you to have a drive out and catch up with your friends, grab some food, relax, be entertained and enjoy some great Porsches.

We couldn't have hosted the event to the standard we intend to without charging a modest entrance fee. By comparison, Bicester's own event, the Scramble, will be £19 per head in January.

The overall budget for the event was set back in February - our aim is to over-deliver in terms of your experiences but without incurring a large cost to the Club. There is no intention to profit from the event, we are investing in to it for your enjoyment.

Hi all

Are there any organisers for the event that would know if there's any opportunity for members attending the event in their cars to park them on site the evening before and overnight?

I'm asking, as I'm attending with 3-4 friends (also PCGB members) in our Porsches the evening before and staying in a well known cheap brand hotel in the center of Bicester to "make a night of it". I'm not too keen on leaving the old 911 SC in the carpark at the hotel overnight!

Best regards
Neil

Good Morning Neil

I have forwarded your query on to one of the organisers, as soon as I get a response I'll let you know.

Best wishes

Hi Peter,

Sorry, I missed this.

This part of the forum is open to non-members. I think that, on balance, the finer details of the Club's finances fall under the umbrella of what should properly be classed as Board material and, as such, I don't think I should openly answer your question. You will be aware that all Directors have to sign an NDA.

What I can say is that as an ex-chair and one of the Club's most experienced former Directors, you will know better than anyone that the Club sets aside funds each year to go towards event support - it is one of our major member benefits. In relation to this event, I can't imagine that you would have found the figure controversial or in any way out of the ordinary. Our team is working hard not only to put on a brilliant event but also to deliver it well under budget.

I learned of some pretty exciting developments just yesterday and would urge anyone in two minds about attending to get their ticket booked before they sell out!

Thanks for planning the trip and supporting the event. The initial view is that yes, you should be able to park inside BH. Set up is on Saturday so the Club will have access. We will get a definitive view on this, including exactly where on the site, next week. It would be very helpful if you would let us know an ETA.

Best

Hi Sue

Many thanks for your reply and in passing on my question. However, just heard back from other guys in my group that are come, they have a change of plan and decided after all not to take porsches!

Hotel is already booked - carpark is just a multistorey 7-mins walk from centre Hotel. I've decided to do the same.

We're still be at the Xmas event and looking forward to it.
Hopefully this may help anyone else that had a similar idea.

Many thanks for your help
Neil

Hi Nick,

Many thanks for your reply. As mentioned to Sue, my party has had a change of plan - now bringing regular cars for parking overnight in Bicester Town center Hotel.

Thanks for help and looking forward to the day

Best regards
Neil

Hi, can you share the link so I can buy two tickets please.
I was at the heritage scramble the other week, and its a great place for car events.
