Club nights

Hi Folks

Since joining PCGB I have not had time to participate in club nights nor events. So far my only engagement has been in forum posts which have been extremely helpful to say the least

Time has come where I need to make certain changes in my schedule where at least I can start attending club nights to begin with and hope to start this before the end of this year. I am enthusiastic to meet others and discuss in shop talk to no end!

I am copied on the club e-mails and will look out for them in the future although I believe it will be in the new year before I get settled into  my new routine/schedule

Certainly what would appear best for me is to check into the Dakota Eurocentral for the night with a view to include some Wife pampering also

As I have never had the chance to fully think about these club nights before and only now looking to make the time to do so can I ask if the meetings are held in a private meeting room in the hotel or simply a corner of the lounge area open to the general public? I hope a private meeting room however surely there is a charge for this so how is this covered?

Not sure if this club forum is the best way to communicate? I know there was and maybe still is a group Facebook although I hate Facebook!

Thanks in the meantime!

Hi Glen, and Welcome.
Regarding ClubNight at Dakota, it is on tonight from 7:30, the hotel allow us to use the cocktail lounge which is to the left as you enter the main door.
The meeting is fairly informal, with a short official discussion of Events by the RO, or ARO’s.
Regarding communication, the Forum is very quiet and has been for some time, most communication is done by Facebook these days, while official communication is mostly email.

Look forward to meeting you,

Alan Locke

Hi Alan

I appreciate your reply although I will not manage tonight unfortunately, although planning to begin my participation during November. Reason being my Wife has a cancer related surgery upcoming so given a period of recovery all should be cleared and good for then!

Thanks!

Glen

We meet twice a month for Breakfast on Sundays, so that might work for you as an alternative?  I too am not a fan of Facebook but it is a useful comms tool so maybe worth reconsidering to find out details of events.

Hope all goes well for your wife

Richard

Thanks so much for your thoughts Richard! The rest of this month is a time when all will be revealed so hoping for the best!

In regards to Facebook, yes I will certainly be happy to try that again, Im not the best at these things

Moving forward I of course need to be mindful of my international business travel which is picking up again. For sure I want to interact more with R1 members but it’s all subject to available time sadly

for sure I am to make more effort in 2023 R1 engagements but it ain’t going to happen over night!

Thanks again!
