Hi there, sorry if there’s already an answer to this one.

I’ve a dead battery. I know how to get into the hood via the fuse box however as car is in garage I’m unable to get the jump leads between my fuse box and my other car.

my question is what size battery do I need to open the hood? i tried a 9v 6LR21 (rectangular) Domestic use battery and got lots of clicking sounds but wasnt able to engage the hood release.

Is the rear of the car accessible, as there’s a positive post in the engine bay that can charge/jump via ?

You'll need a substantial 12v battery to get it to pop the lid. A car battery would be best, but you could try a motorcycle battery.

If you haven't sorted it out yet, there is an emergency release pull wire to access the engine bay when you can then use jump leads. The nearside rear light can be eased slightly up and a hook slipped in to catch the wire and pull it out. A pull on this should then release the engine lid. Easier said than done however!
