Smarty floor mats!

The epitome of detailing is, of course, in the "detail".

You know you've really arrived at the pinnacle of refinement when you're reluctant to step into your car for fear of upsetting your lovely floor mats pattern.

But if you really want the last word in elegance and have enough time on your hands, here's what you do.

Firstly, thoroughly clean the mats, shampoo if necessary, then vacuum up all the bits. Make sure it is thoroughly dry and the pile is standing proud.

Using a small hand spray, squirt a very light water mist over the pile. Then take a straight edge and run down the mat using a brush with a stiffish bristle - I use a scrubbing brush, myself. Reposition the straight edge and run down the next section in the opposite direction. Carry on in alternating directions until you reach the opposite edge.

Macan gets the treatment.

If you're looking for a really top-class job, repeat the process at 90 degrees to give a chequered pattern - it's really neat!

Finally, reflect on how you arrived at such a pretty pass.

Regards,

Clive
