HEADLIGHT ISSUE

Hi All,
I noticed my headlights were not coming on the other day. 1 bulb taken out which was blown but the the other worked. Now the other doesn't work so replaced both bulbs and cleaned contacts but nothing now happening.
Fuses are okay, any ideas what this could be? I have a 2002/2003 C4S and the rear of the light units have control modules attached. Could these have failed as like everything Porsche they are eye wateringly expensive and is there any way to check the modules?

Any advice hugely appreciated.
Thanks,

I would check the connectors are secure in the plate in the wing. Then, see if there is 12v on the appropriate pin. If not, I would suspect the light switch. They are a common weak spot. if you need a wiring diagram, drop me a PM with your email address.

Hi Richard, thanks very much for coming back to me.
I need to look into this more but if the light switch is not working, wouldn't this affect all lights?
Could it also be the control units that fit to the back of each headlight unit?
thanks
Seb

Perhaps this is the same problem I had with light not working after removal of headlight unit on my 1998 996 3.4 C2. As the unit is pushed back into place the electrical connector on the back of the unit has to fit/plug into the fixed socket within the wing and you can't see if it is actually locating properly. It is apparently a common problem that part of the fixing of the socket within the wing can break and gets pushed back as the unit is pushed into place, rather than allowing the connector to push in. To check this, remove the light fitting and physically check with your hand that the connector in the wing is held solidly and won't move as the plug is pushed into it. There is a clip that breaks and replacements are available. Good luck.

thanks Steve, yes I did notice one side is a little loose. That said, if it wasn't connecting , surely none of the lights would be working?

My light problem was erratic and caused by the socket in wing being loose. It wasn't connecting properly and until I fixed it properly just tapping the light got it working again. If your fixing isn't firm perhaps this is something that might be the problem if the contacts are only connecting partially. But it's just a suggestion!
